hmm but not when you move forward in the guide, that issue is still there, so going >23h in the guide is not providing any EPG information still… it only works in Web Player or in the former e.g. Apple TV App
It does when you scroll. I can scroll starting now through multiple days and it loads. A few times it took a seconds to load the info, but it came up.
Here’s a quick screen capture: Imgur: The magic of the Internet
Correct when scrolling through the guide its loading always 23/24h, then the App on e.g. iOS stuck and is loading the next 23/24h of EPG. But jumping from e.g. today to Friday is not working instantly. You first have to scroll back/forward approx. 10-15sec. and wait till the app freezes. Once freezed its loading the EPG of the day/time you are looking for.
Unfortunately when closing the app (swipe up in iOS) and start again, the whole loaded EPG is gone and you start from scratch. But funny, a series I watch on Monday 8.10pm is now listed in top row starting around 4.30pm but when going into details it starts at 8.10pm so the whole guide is now scrambled…
I tried it then again and just moved to Monday and waited, but then EPG is loaded but it takes up to 30 seconds
Correction, its not caching, as soon as I switch the day and go back to the same day, it starts again loading, so it somehow works but not good and not usable unfortunately…
Ahh I see. When jumping to another day, vs scrolling through the guide, that I had not viewed yet it stays blank. Have to hit back 30 min for it to load and then it’s fine. Not sure about any freezing.
At least there’s guide data past today, I’ll take a little win even if it’s not perfect .
For me with 2025.23 I can scroll in a jumpy laggy way to see future shows into tomorrow, however after about 4-5 hours into the future the forward backwards buttons become largely unresponsive, then the guide data goes blank and fails to load as I continue to move forward (had happened just scrolling today, but also going through to tomorrow). This is repeatable across five different iOS devices running a mixture of 2025.22 and the 2023.23 beta.
All works fine on my macOS Plex client and Windows client, just not for all folks on Android mobile or iOS/iPadOS.
So whilst we might see a very small amount of improvement, it’s still only 5% working, at least for me. So I won’t make it as fixed. The release notes for the Beta don’t really align with this issue, so not really sure if this is under fix. That is why I’ve very respectfully and carefully asked for insight from Plex.
135 days and counting, hope we don’t make it to 150.
I only have an iPhone and iPad, both on the beta 2025.23.0. Clicking through the guide in 30 min increments is smooth. Maybe it’s because I only have a handful of channels (9) selected so it doesn’t lag.
The jumping ahead to future days and having to click back 30 min to have it load happens on both devices.
Have the plex devs responded in this thread before?
Really appreciate you taking the time to track and log all the details!!
@OttoKerner I assume Plex Dev is more than aware of this and is working on it right?
Please define “this”.
Browsing the TV guide in the New Experience Plex App on Android/iOS is not working or causes app hangs, as mentioned in the above posts of me and @veeejay - THANKS
Simply go into the TV guide and select in the EPG Saturday, it wont load, it will do nothing, when you go back/forward the app hangs and then is loading the EPG data.
I have filed a bug report.
Please use this thread to discuss this particular issue, instead of appending to the existing thread.
must admit I’m not sure why this specific topic has been split, into a thread that isn’t correctly tagged (no reference to live tv or EPG), with no back link to quite a bit of background. The whole idea was to take a series of seperate threads that exist for this issue (and a few others) and consolidate to help with visibility.
We now have another thread, onto of the at least 10 others, one that really doesn’t capture the issue.
