EPG guide losing channel connection every few days

Server Version#: 1.22.1.4228
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun DUAL
Guide/Lineup name: DVR—Deutschland (erweitert) (959 channels)
Using XMLTV?: no
Channel number/Name: all

Hi, after setting up my tuners (HDHomeRun DUAL / HDHR3-EU) and EPG guide Plex server (Synology) is losing most of the EPG channels every few days so that the guide only has 5-6 channels. If I check the EPG config I can see that all other channels lost their connection to the given guide. This is happening every few days so that I can reconfig all channels once a week. How can I fix this?

Best regards!

Additional information: I just connected the missing channels to the guides again and found out that also the channel numbers and some of the channel descriptions changed:

582 NDRNHD (NDR Fernsehen NDS HD) becomes 593 NDRNHD (NDR Fernsehen NDS HD)
1196 ZDFGERH (ZDF HD) is now 1207 ZDFGERH (ZDF HD)
1115 WDRKHD (WDR Köln HD) is 1188 WDRKHD (WDR Köln HD)

and so on. This is why also all the recording plans are rubbish now.

Report your missing channels here.

There are no missing channels in the guide. The connection between the guide and the tuner channels get lost every few days.

Hi,
I’m having the same problem with same TV guide, the channels are still selected on the left side but most of the channel mapping on the right side is lost and has to be reselected. Very annoying

Yes, it’s another week now and channels are gone again. At the moment I only have 3 channels left in the EPG, all other channels have lost their connection to the EPG channels again. And as always the relating channels got new channel numbers in the EPG:

NDRNHD (NDR Fernsehen NDS HD) was 593 last week, now it has 601
ZDFGERH (ZDF HD) was 1207 and has 1236 now
WDRKHD (WDR Köln HD) had 1188 now it has 1212

None of my planned recordings were made. The TV recording option is completely useless like that! I was using TV Mosaic before but unfortunately they closed their service. I never has such problems with them. Furthermost all of the recording options and stability of Plex are still not comparable to what I had before! Support here is as zero. Very disappointing!

bring back Miicrosoft Mediacentre

Yes, originally I’m coming from MediaCenter too! :grinning: Now I’m having Kodi on this PC but Plex is running on my NAS and should do the recording stuff.

So nobody is helping here, maybe we can help ourself. Are you also using a HDHomeRun tuner or something different?

Mediacentre was great, easy to use by the whole family with one remote control. I had 2 twin tuners for two satellites, UK and Germany with one tv guide. Although the guide became an issue. The need for apps was also a problem.

I still struggle to find something to replace it, that’s stable and easy to use. I appreciate that more is online and the need for apps but it’s becoming trickier with the need for vpns etc.

I just have a desktop PC as a media pc/server and a nas for storage with Hauppage S2 satellite tuners. I have Roku unit I sometimes use with the Plex app installed to keep down the number of remote controls, or I use a mini keyboard to control the PC.

I tried Kobo and mediaportal but they were too tricky to maintain or setup.

But having said all that, I’ve just tried the new Plex HTPC and I can again use just the one remote control.

Just need the TV Guide fixed. :crossed_fingers:

Yes, I had the same guide issue with MediaCenter and then with TV Mosaic. This is why I tried Plex for recordings. I already used it before for all the streaming stuff.

So because you are not using the same tuners than me it is clearly not an tuner issue. You write that you are having german channels too. Are we maybe using the same TV guide? Mine is called “Guide/Lineup name: DVR—Deutschland (erweitert) (959 channels)”.

Happened to me now the fifth-time in a couple of months. As it takes an hour to reconnect channels (for two tuners) it is absolutely unbearable.

Is there any official reaction from plex?

Happens also with DVR -Deutschland.

Welcome to the club! I didn’t found anything from Plex about this. Maybe it has something to do with the german epg list? Because as far as I know we all use german channels.

Most likely, Danes have the same problem, though. But they get German channels as well.
Perhaps @OttoKerner could help?

Well, I now changed, as recommended in the parallel thread (DVR loses channel mapping?), to GIGA-TV as data-provider.
Hope that fixes the problem for some time. Didn’t find some radio-stations though, but that could be my fault.

Thank you, I didn’t found that thread last time. :face_with_monocle: Sounds promising. Since today my channels are still there but as soon as they’re gone again I will try to use another provider.
