Think I have found issue with how Plex handles EPG data

I posted a topic a while back complaining about how Plex’s own EPG data has multiple channels with the same channel number, which means you can only use the first one in the list.

While making my own EPG grabbers I noticed that one of the providers I encountered this problem with starts radio channel numbers with “0”. Plex doesn’t seem to account for this and considers “0108” (Talk Sport) the same as “108” (Sky Atlantic HD). They both show as “108” in Plex.

That’s a great catch! I’d suggest including other relevant information such as the tuner used, the guide source, and any other relevant details which might help Plex in tracking this down. In the event that it’s not just a general logic issue.

I don’t think the tuner is relevant since the issue is with mapping Plexs guide data to an existing channel.

One example of a source that has this issue is the UK “SkyQ” guide… But I know (from google searching) people are having similar issues with other guide sources too.

Is there any reason not to provide this information? We have no idea how the server works with different tuners/guides. There could be entirely different code paths depending on the tuner type and guide chosen. We could have a conversation about whether or not that would make sense, but we can’t assume we know the answer.

Fair enough. I am emulating a HDHR device. Similar to xteve.

That makes it even MORE important. Because Emulated Tuners behave differently

Hi Chris, I had the same issue of not being able to select the second option on a channel with the same number. The weird fix seems to be to setup/modify your tuner guide data via https://app.plex.tv/desktop instead of direct to the internal IP of your Plex server.

Thanks that worked.
It would be nice not to have to use that to configure channels though.
