EPG jumps around when scrolling on AndroidTV

When I scroll fast through the EPG, the date and grid starts shifting around. For instance, if I scroll down say 50 channels by just holding down the down arrow, the date will shift to the tomorrow and I can’t even see where the highlighted show is. Does anybody else experience this?

This is on a Shield AndroidTV with HDHomeRun Prime. Plex server is running on a Windows server. I use a Logitech Harmony Home Hub remote for the most part to navigate AndroidTV … but the behavior is the same with the included Shield controllers.

I even tried to reduce the number of channels that show to only those that my family is interested in which is about 125 channels to see if by having fewer channels helps the scrolling behavior.

This makes the EPG navigation extremely frustrating to navigate. Especially since you can’t just type in the number to jump to.

Is this a known bug or something that has a known workaround? I couldn’t find anything in the forums.

Thanks,
PJ

Yeah I get this as well, if you scroll down too fast the highlighted programme ends up off screen and you have to navigate across to bring it back to the current time.

It’s a little better in the new UI as the clock stays on screen so you find your back to the current time easier but it still moves off screen, think it does it when you scroll past a channel with no EPG data or the data hasn’t loaded on the onscreen guide yet.

A change in colour scheme to make current showings easier to see or at least something that highlights the position in the currently airing program on the guide would be very welcome rather than just orange.

I agree, changing the color of the currently selected show in the EPG to something that really emphasizes what’s selected would be really nice. Plus an option to not be able to scroll into the past would be great. This gives the option to scroll left until it stops to get back to the current time.

However, the jumping around of the EPG in general needs to be fixed in order to make the EPG useful on AndroidTV. I constantly give up and return to my good old WMC setup because of this. …that and being able to change channels by number pad as well as watch an in-process recording.

Can anyone tell us if this is a recognized issue that Plex intends to resolve?

Plex keeps getting better but EPG navigation is very unreliable in Nvidia Shield.
Yes, EPG cursor gets lost when scrolling ‘too fast’…

EPG is more reliable using the web interface to scroll, filter, and program recordings. Doing it via Nvidia EPG implementation is very frustrating. Basically useless for me.

Nvidia Shield Plex EPG Needs:

. Fix scrolling so cursor does not get lost when scrolling fast up/down.
. Add direct channel tuning. Even the built-in, less featured, Live Channels app in Nivdia has this feature (and scrolling up/down is flawless, so it can be done). Have this via direct number entry and/or voice input of Shield.
. Add Favorites Channels Tagging filter.
. Add filter to filter by HD channels only (web interface has this…)
