EPG not updating

I’m using the free version for Live TV. I’ve been testing it for a few weeks and it’s been fine. Last night I noticed I had no guide data for the current time or anything in the future.

I found how to manually trigger a refresh on the web and then I stopped and re-started the app on my Apple TV and it worked.

But today it’s happened again. I only have data thru 7pm tonight. It’s the same on all my devices - Apple TV, iOS, web. I have tried a manual refresh but it still won’t update. The update does not report any errors, it seems to complete, but the guide is still blank after 7pm today.

Any ideas?

How much data in the future am I even supposed to get on the free plan?

I want to move to the paid plan to test DVR functions but I’m worried if the Guide doesn’t update, my shows won’t record.

Free version only gives you about 4 hours of the epg. You will have to manually refresh right before you start using it.

During the pandemic Plex gave you a longer epg window but lately they have reduced it.

Oh, thanks. If Free only gives you a few hours then I guess I’m OK. I must not have noticed that since I don’t have DVR.

I haven’t had to ever manually refresh except for last night. I’ve always had Guide data showing for the current-hour, except last night.

I do intend to do a trial run of Paid so I guess I can see how well the data updates then.

You could set your scheduled task window to end right before prime time to see if it updates automatically for a few days. It would also help you determine if it is 4,12 or 23 hours.

My scheduled task is set from 2am - 5am and I’ve never changed it.

I’ve never noticed current-time not to show data… whether it be in the morning, afternoon or evening. Yesterday evening was the first time I ever saw an empty Guide.

At Noon I had data until 7pm. Now at 3:30pm I still only have data until 7pm. So it’s not advancing any sort of available window (4, 12, 23 hours).

And previously I never saw it blank in the evening, so if the task window ended at 5am it had to at least be downloading 12+ hours.

So something seems broken and even manually updating it isn’t working (it did once yesterday).

And is there a way to manually update (or try to) in iOS/AppleTV app? I could only find the option on the web.

The last offer I could find was from June, 30 days live tv (no DVR) and you needed a Plex Pass after that to continue.

Checked Android Mobile and TV, no manual refresh. Only Plex for Mac/Windows/Web and HTPC.

Upgrading to Plex Pass fixed the issue.

I’m not sure why I was getting more Guide data for the past few weeks on the free plan.
