My shows never, ever, update the episode images/posters. I always have to do it manually. The only way I can ever get them to update is if the episode image is in the directory with the video file, or they’re embedded into the video file.
I don’t understand why it always defaults to
the season poster. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get them to update without intervention. Metadata refreshes and analyzing the file will update what I can choose from if I go to edit the file via the UI and change the poster there, but it never actually updates on it’s own.
With issues like these it’s best to start with some additional information. Please provide the following:
A listing showing the organization and naming of a show having the issue (even if it’s all of them, pick one and show it; the on from your screenshots would be good). Something like the following. It doesn’t need to be formatted this way, just show the same type of information (folder hierarchy down to the root of the library up through the media files themselves).
tv <--- My library points here, the name isn't important
└── This Old House
└── Season 45
├── This Old House.S45E20.Glen Ridge, NJ QR Construction.ts
├── This Old House.S45E21.Glen Ridge, NJ Roughed In.ts
├── This Old House.S45E22.New Jersey Next Level Tight.ts
I’m not suggesting there’s an issue with your naming; it’s just best to know exactly what we’re working with.
The full configuration of your TV shows library, including the page showing which folders are added to it. To do this, edit your TV shows library and grab screenshots of your Add Folders tab and multiple screenshots of your Advanced tab (so that you can show all your settings).
Also, do you have any image files along side the media?
This all looks completely fine to me and very closely matches what I have configured for my libraries. I wonder if this could be the result of a database error. If so, ChuckPa’s DB repair script may be able to help. (He’s a Plex team member, this isn’t some random guy’s script.)
There’s some additional information in this thread:
I have this series in my TV library and it is working fine. Looking at one thing, your library is set to use episode ordering from “The Movie Database.” Mine is set to TheTVDB. I wonder if that might have something to do with it?
