Could someone at Plex check if Plex is pulling the db correctly from TVDB for this episode order? Also, let me know if there’s any other data I can provide. I appreciate your help.
Edit: Pete the Cat (tvdb-ID 340595) has the same issues, but with the TVDB-Aired episode order. Season 01 doesn’t match (https://thetvdb.com/series/340595-show/seasons/official/1), specifically s01e07. Can you also check that Plex is properly pulling this db?
I’m getting the same issue with Spider-Man: The New Animated Series - I have my files ordered and named to the TVDB DVD order, and the entry in Plex set to TVDB (DVD) and yet Plex seems to order the episodes in an order that isn’t ANY of the listed orders?
I’m getting the same issue here with the show Air Crash Investigation/Mayday, specifically with Season 24. I have my TV library set to read from TheTVDB, the show is set to read from TVDB (Aired), and the episode ordering is correct on disk. I also have prefer local metadata unchecked. However it seems to be pulling from TheMovieDB episode listing instead.
Chiming in to say the same for only a few shows. For some reason the episode orders are blending in from all sources (i.e., TheTVDB, TMDb, and IMDb) to varying errors. Not sure if something changed on Plex’s end in the last few months, as it has been prioritizing its own metadata, but it is bizarre.
Could we get some feedback on what’s going on here? Is this a TVDB database issue? Or is this a Plex issue? I’m leaning toward it being a Plex issue. I’m finding more and more episode ordering/titling errors. Something seems to be increasingly broken within Plex’s matching algorithm.
I am experiencing problems with the Plex Series Agent as well. I’m not sure exactly what the error is, but it seems that no matter which TVDB episode ordering mode I choose (Aired, DVD, Streaming, etc) it orders as DVD.
I believe you are looking at the global settings for your Library. If you go to the specific TV Show, then Edit > Advanced > Episode Ordering, you’ll see more specific options.
i have the same issue. but i noticed mine with Season 9 of Doctor Who (2005), episode 1, according to TVDB DVD order which is how the series show should be ordered is supposed to be the christmas special, however according to plex its the actual first eposide of the season (the magicians apprentice). ive tried renaming the file to S09E00 to see if it would pick up from another TVDB ordering but it didnt find it.
I haven’t tried this but does naming it S00E142 and then selecting TVDB DVD ordering help?
That is the episode name on TMDB and it has the correct TVDB external ID. I think* that will get it to sort the way you want
Change the show on your server to use TVDB (DVD) episode order if that is how you have the episode named. It is in the advanced settings when editing the show
Sorry, what do you mean by new agent? - I’ve just checked this and my Episode ordering on the series was ‘Library default’ and for some reason my agent selected on the library is set to ‘Plex Series’ which I definitely did change when I went through the settings a long time ago, so it must have changed itself somehow recently. Anyway, I did a refresh meta data, but not sure if this would have done anything, given that I had gone through and manually edited the names, pictures, bio and such of all S9 and S10. The issue that I had with 10 was again the christmas special, which should be showing as E1, however it was instead showing The Pilot as E1.
the library itself for Plex Series agent can only be set to the generic TMDB or TVDB at the library level, which both are Aired., because for 99.9% shows it is the best to use. So when you leave an individual show on Library Default you are using an Aired order.
When a particular show needs to use DVD order or some other special order available on TVDB you have to select it for the actual show like in my screenshot.
