Episode ordering "TheTVDB (Aired)" not fetching latest metadata

G’day! Decades old Plex user having sudden issues with TVDB metadata.

For the following TVDB shows:

The Plex server is not fetching the latest data for them.

Namely:

  • Seasons and episodes aren’t matching for At Home with Venetia.
  • Inspiring Landscapes 1x99 is not receiving any metadata.

On disk, my files are named thusly:

  • At Home with Venetia in Kyoto (2009) {tvdb-321135}/

    • Season 2009/
      • At Home with Venetia in Kyoto - s2009e01 - 2009-04-05 - Vol.01 Daffodils in Spring.mp4

  • Inspiring Landscapes (2012) {tvdb-383196}/

    • Season 01/
      • Inspiring Landscapes - s01e02 - 2013-01-13 - Uwakai Sea.mp4

This is the same naming format I use for hundreds of other entries that are matching within Plex.

Within Plex, these two series are set to Advanced > Episode ordering > TheTVDB (Aired). There are currently no metadata entries on TheMovieDB for these two. Other series I have that ARE keyed to TMDB ARE receiving metadata updates successfully. I’ve done the Plex dance two or three times for these two series, and no improvement: Inspiring Landscapes will match all episodes EXCEPT for Episode 99 (which was recently added), and At Home with Venetia will only match seasons and episodes from BEFORE the recent TVDB metadata changes (that is: Season 2016, which existed a year ago in TVDB, is loading metadata, but it’s OLD metadata, and Season 2009, which was added about two weeks ago, is matching nothing at all; all episodes are coming in simply as “Episode 1”, “Episode 2”, etc.).

My library is using the “Plex TV Series” scanner. Manually attempting to “Fix Match” on the series does nothing either (likely because I’m forcing the match at the directory level, but that’s something I do for ALL my series already too).

In a previous, and recent, forum post about TVDB metadata, someone else mentioned having difficulties, and a staff member responded that TVDB had been having API issues, but they’re fixed now, and everything should be magical within a day. That was four days ago, and I’ve continued to have no luck getting these things properly updated. (Source: Plex not matching on Late Show with Stephen Colbert - #9 by caruthers)

This appears to have resolved this morning. I did a “refresh metadata” for these series, as I’ve been doing every morning since I changed the metadata, and everything came through as I expected.
