Episode snapshots off by one episode

I am very sorry if this has been addressed before, and I even looked to see if I posted it before but just don’t see it.

On several of my TV series’ at some point some of the tv show episode snapshots will be off by one episode.

The files are named correctly and I’ve been using this file naming format since very early in the life of PLEX.

I’ve done the PLEX dance several times to no avail.

I’ve tried changing settings on the server for where information comes from.

The odd thing is that the snaps will be fine from say ep1 to ep 15 of a season, then ep16 will show the snap that is obviously from ep17..and so on until maybe ep 28 and then the last 8 episodes will all be correct again. Sometimes it’s only like 4 or 5 episodes and others it has been all but maybe the first and last. This means, yes, that 2 episodes at some point have 2 different snaps from 1 episode.

In this shot the snaps are correct until episode 8. That snap is from ep9. and 9 is from 10. 10 is from 11. The rest are all correct. I am at a loss as to how or why this happens and how to fix it. In the past I found when this happened it was actually the episodes were named an episode off. Here, they are named correctly for the episode that plays…just the snaps are wrong.

Thanks for any insight and again, sorry if even I asked this in the past….I searched a few times and looked at my old posts…didn’t see this one. Though, I know I have had this happen over the years…

Good catch. You are doing nothing wrong. I see the same on my server.

I do not know where Plex obtains the episode images, but they are wrong at TMDB as well: Hogan's Heroes: Season 5 (1969) — The Movie Database (TMDB).

What is happening: The pictures align with DVD episode ordering.

Look at the ordering on TVDB for season 5. Aired and DVD are different.

Telling Plex to use either TMDB or TVDB Aired episode ordering makes no difference.

I’ll drop a note to the metadata team and reply to the thread with any updates.

Here’s a screenshot of the listing at TMDB. The picture for Episode 10 is from Episode 11.

Yeah…I totally understood it when I found that episodes were named in the wrong order…but as you know, these are not named wrong… Thanks for the verification and possible fix for the Plex team….

The fix for this should not need the plex metadata team to solve. It’s the same situation as I explained here SpongeBob SquarePants S4 and S5 not respecting TTVDB DVD order - #6 by dokuro and can be fixed by anyone with an account on tmdb.

I’ve gone ahead and fixed this for season 5 of Hogan’s Heroes, I’ll go check the other seasons later this evening if no one else has done it before that.

BTW… It’ll take 3-5 days for these changes to make their way to plex.
