Error Acquiring Certificate after Password Reset

I have a reclaim tool for you. It took a bit for me to get uninterrupted time to complete but works for all Linux, QNAP, and Synology.

Extract the tar file, stop plex, run as root, Get and PASTE claim token into script input line (it will prompt), it does the rest.

PS: It does understand basic PMS customization so should be OK if you moved the APP_SUPP_DIR elsewhere ( wrote to support that much )

Thanks, I already tried that, it did not work… I can live without it… cheers

Ho solo un server…mi diceva di eliminarlo che al prossimo riavvio sarebbe ritornato…
Non ho idea su come procedere…posso ripristinarlo in qualche modo?

Thanks again, Chuck. Uninstall/reinstall took ten minutes! Works fine now. All my movies, tv shows, etc. are right where I left them - no need to restore anything.

Oddly enough, two Mac Minis show up in my clients. Old one says “identifier mismatch.” Eh. Computers, right? Just connect to the right one and ignore the wrong one!

@larry_w1

Go to Authorized Devices → Server (dropdown)

REMOVE the dead one

RELOAD the browsers / RESTART the player apps

Please tell me where your server was running ?
(Linux ? on a NAS ?) Please tell me more info.

If I know what you’re using, I can tell you where to look and see if recovery is possible.

Per favore, dimmi dove era in esecuzione il tuo server? (Linux? su un NAS?)

Per favore dimmi maggiori informazioni. Se so cosa stai usando, posso dirti dove guardare e vedere se il recupero è possibile.

You’re a genius, Chuck! That cleaned up that old dead server just fine.

Have a great day!

Ciao, il server è su nas qnap ts251+

My A/V guy is asking why you were asking about the device at .122.

Can you clarify for me why you asked? And what you’re seeing on that device? And did that have to do with my question about the audio playback delay between tracks? (Playback on Sonos via Plex or just using Plex app on iOS devices does not have the delay - it’s only on the desktop Plex app), or was it from something else? Was it the screenshot I sent? Not sure about things enough to know really what the log results mean.
Is it a concern is some way? And why? And what should we do about it?

Can you let me know so I can let him know.

Also, I had asked about this but didn’t get a reply (you did reply on my PW question) - can you let me know if I’m supposed to get a new certificate for Plex for my Synology DS720? I didn’t update after PW change. I see many users have been trying to update and are having issues or whatever. Should I worry about this or just leave things as they are? Where do I get a new certificate again? I don’t recall.

I’d really appreciate your reply so I can let my A/V guy know so we can try to do whatever might need to be done on our end based on your reply.

My apologies. I just posted a few questions for you related to your mention of the device at .122, etc. I didn’t see that you replied last night (I don’t recall seeing another email notification). My apologies. Basically my A/V and network guy is wondering why you asked, what you thought it meant, and so forth.
I also asked if I needed a new certificate for plex for Synology after updating my password. You did reply on my password question (I updated through my account), but still wondering about the certificate.
BTW, I applaud you for your patience and expertise with everyone hitting you guys on the issues experienced by many caused by this password issue. It can’t be easy, so just wanted to say thank you.

@bubbascant

I just went over this thread again.

1. Addr 112

I was referring to the x.x.x.112 address you show here

What I missed, for which I apologize, it it identifying itself – Roku Player
(it’s been a long, busy, and tiring, few days)

false alarm.
please accept my apologies.

2. Cert vs Password

Given you have a new password, You’ll get a new cert if PMS determines you need one. Usually they aren’t dependent on each other. The Cert identifies the server.

The password controls access to the account.

3. Audio delays

I can’t speak to any of that because I’m not an app developer. I work on the OS / base system level (where PMS itself runs).

My initial focus was to get you and your server running and then, in a new thread, address the audio issues with the appropriate folks

I understand it’s been an intense few days for you all. No apologies necessary on my account.
I’m still a bit unclear on the Certificate (not sure how that all works). Everything (except the delay in audio on desktop Plex only - all other access (Sonos, PlexAmp, etc.) work fine.
I can access both servers, my media, everything is there (playlists as well). I launch Plex desktop usually from Synology instead of just a browser so is a new certificate necessary? If so, I would just import it over the old one? And where again do I get a new one if needed?

Sorry to ask again as I know you’re very busy.

Sorry for another question (as you’ve already pretty much answered I think), but do you think the audio delay has anything to do with the certificate? The audio delay never happened before the PW update.
Thanks again for your efforts on behalf of all of us.

Audio delay = App

Certificate = basic connection between server and app.

Once connected – the cert isn’t material anymore

@spitfi89

If you uninstall the QNAP, all data is lost.

You must start over from the beginning.

Almost all other NAS systems allow us to uninstall but QNAP does not.

==========

Se si disinstalla QNAP, tutti i dati vengono persi.

Devi ricominciare dall’inizio.

Quasi tutti gli altri sistemi NAS ci consentono la disinstallazione, ma QNAP no.

Quindi devo disinstallare l’applicazione PMS dal qnap e reinstallare dall’inizio?

Hi, can you please look at reset for

Password was reset
Password has been changed
All devices signed out

Server Name Wozb73
Host Linux QNAP OTS 5.0

Can you revoke my certificate please. I cannot log in from new devices anymore despite having the correct (newly set) password (after receiving data breach notice). Thank you

@wozb

You deleted the server (soft delete). There is no active server for me to reset.

You need to install Plex,

In a Private Window: Open it to the LAN IP (http://LAN.IP.of.QNAP:32400/web

It will want you to sign it in and all that (the private window has no knowledge of your Plex account – don’t be alarmed at the 'not hosted; warning, it’s expected

Certificate has been reset.
Restart the server.

Go easy on it? You used up a whole bunch of certificates and exceeded the normal quota.
