I moved plex library to a new machine and now I am unable to get a certificate. been about 24 hours now. I signed out and reclaimed several times yesterday. I have the server up and running for some clients , those that dont require a secure connection.

Anything i can do besides wait and see if it gets unlocked?

That will cause the block. Make sure you actually wait. Either leave your server off for a while or turn off security so it doesn’t try to get a new one until after the block goes away. If you try while the block is there, it just extends the block.

You should only need to wait 1-2 hours.

Still no luck. I disabled the security under networks. if there are no other suggestions I will turn the server off overnight tonight and see how that does.

I had someone check your account. I’m told the last block occurred at Sat, 22 Jan 2022 20:53:27 GMT and should have only lasted an hour. There is no block at this time.

There were many successful and failed attempts on Jan 22. If you turned off the security, something is still trying. Did you turn off the old machine? If you transferred the server info and both machines are on, there could be a conflict since 1 will have a bad certificate while 1 is valid, so the invalid one will try to get a new certificate, making the previous good one bad and you end up in a loop.

Old server has been turned off for over a day now. I turned the security back on and will leave it on for a while to see what happens.

Did you restart PMS after changing that initially and now? That setting only applies on PMS startup.

Yes. I have removed plex from the other machine completely. I then shut plex down on my new server and let it sit for about 5 hours. Just turned the server on and still no luck on accessing my library via plex.tv. Do i need to sign out and reclaim?

I am no longer getting the rate limit error, but it is similar

That’s the same limit.

Try this.

Find your PMS data folder. In it is a “cache” folder. Find “cert-v2.p12”.

  • stop PMS
  • delete that file
  • restart PMS

Thanks for all the help. I didnt have to find and delete that file. I turned off the security, shut down. Turned on the security , shut down and restarted the PC. After rebooting the entire system it now has successfully connected securely, and verified through the one client app that was giving me problems.

Ok good. I thought that file might have been causing the failure of getting a new certificate. Guess not. Glad it’s working for you now.
