I’ve noticed this happening more and more. I am recording a TV show and the actual file name is correct, but when I view it in the library the episode title and description are off by one episode. For example, I just recorded Season 27 Episode 12 of Cops.
File name: Cops (1989) - S27E12 - You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out.mkv
Information in Plex Libary: S27 E12 - Taser Proof. The description is also from “Taser Proof”
I looked up on wikipedia and the Show title “Taser Proof” is from S27 E11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Cops_episodes#Season_27_.282014.E2.80.9315.29
So it seems to be applying the title and description from the previous episodes. Has anyone else faced this and do you know how to fix it?
Plex does not use wikipedia, therefore you can not use wiki for naming your shows. If you do, it will be wrong.

Go here for more information(very important information)
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/sections/200059498-Naming-and-Organizing-TV-Shows
Plex doesn’t care which episode order is noted in Wikipedia
It draws its episode information from TheTVDB, where it’ll be sorted strictly by the order in which the episodes aired originally
So look up your tv show there and use this as your reference

Ok, I totally understand that it uses TVDB and not Wiki ( I only used wiki to show you the correct name), BUT this TV show was downloaded using Plex DVR and it did name the file correctly S27E12 - You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out. , but then it went out to TVDB to collect metadata and it gave it the wrong Episode name and description. So how do we prevent this??
I see the issue now… http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=74709&seasonid=590915&lid=7
TVDB has an incorrect entry in their database. They show an Episode 9 called “Bryce Dion Tribute” which was technically not an official episode, but rather a “special” So it is throwing off all the episodes after #9 by one.
I check a couple of other seasons and some of them are totally screwed up. Season 10 on TVDB has incorrect meta data for almost 50% of the shows.
Is there an alternative to TVDB or a way to fix this? I see a setting in Advanced called “order by DVD episode” but i’m not sure that will fix anything.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You could try and ‘match’ this series with TheMovieDatabase instead, if they use the correct episode order.
Using the ‘DVD order’ is not possible with this show, because there are no informations in TheTVDB about the DVD release. Maybe there was no DVD release or the information about it hasn’t been added yet.

Are you kidding. That series is so fu#$ed up I stopped trying. I start all the episodes from 100. I get no episode descriptions or whatnot. It’s like a box of chocolate.
