Can anyone either provide or point me to a direction in which I can get more information on this error message when trying to record live TV: “There is not enough free disk space to start the recording.”
I had been recording for about a month with no issues. I have the Plex Server set up through my Netgear Nighthawk X10 with an external 8TB Western Digital hard-drive connected to the router via 3.0 USB port. There is a lot of space available on the hard-drive.
I am not familiar in logs or how they would be useful nor how transcoding may or may not be related to space issues.
You need to take a look at your drive configuration. Just because you have a large drive doesn’t mean that it will all be available to a specific user or device. It would appear that you are sharing this drive thru your X10 so I would look there first and make sure that there are no drive space quotas defined. Also make sure that any deleted files are in fact deleted and not just in some waste can still taking up space.
It would seem to me by deleting old recordings more should be able to be recorded, but that isn’t happening. It appears to me that the deleted files are actual gone, as I am deleting them directly through file explorer. I am wondering if this issue has anything to do with the Plex upgrade that occurred in the end of March 2018, about the same time the recordings stopped occurring. I don’t see any way to uninstall Plex from the router with the exception of resetting everything on the router, which i would like to avoid. As far as the hard-drive configuration I didn’t do anything special, other than setting up some new folders on where I wanted the Plex recordings to be placed.
I did notice there are a lot of folders being added to the hard-drive that begin with “pms-” and the few I checked are empty. Something odd about them is that there are none from the month of March 2018, but there are a ton before and after. Maybe I didn’t use Plex that month?
Here is some more information regarding my set up: While the Plex Server is installed on my Netgear Nighthawk 10x router (with up to date firmware); my PC is Windows 10 base; the Plex client is on Apple TV. iPhone and a Samsung TV; and, the version of Plex is 1.12.2.4929-29f6d1796 Mar 29, 2018. I will work on getting logs posted.
Still having this issue. Here is some content from a log: May 26, 2018 13:51:09.004 [0xb2377530] ERROR - DVR:Grabber: Not enough free space in "/tmp/mnt/sde1/Media/TV Shows/.grab It appears I need to free up space in this part of the attached hard drive, but I couldn’t locate a directory that is named like that. Any clues?
Are your files actually being deleted or simply moved to another location like the Windows trash can does. Unless the trash can is emptied, the files remain and the space is still in use.
i am pretty sure once a file is deleted ir is gone forever.
