In anticipation of travel, I wanted to try PLEX on a Windows 10 system.
Windows 10 system has an EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 XC3 graphics card with the ‘latest’ drivers installed. Stuff seems to work well.
Installed the PLEX app. When I go to start the app I get an error message – see attachment.
There must be something I am missing here. Any help would be appreciated
I’m getting the same OpenGL error myself on my Fujitsu Laptop. All drivers are up to date. Been using the Plex for windows for long time and since the latest 1.31.0.2254-43df1e6e April 22, 2021 release I’m getting the OpenGL. error
This error occurs when the PLEX app is launched. The idea is to use PLEX while traveling with a ‘local’ server and no Internet. – no opportunity/ability to open web PLEX without Internet.
same set of problems as all above. the dlls in question are in program files/plex/plex. following suggested fix when this happened to PMP users some time back (expressly putting plex dir in path) did not help. Windows and intel have no updated drivers, can only laun.ch from forums would be nice if releases are actually regression tested before release. DO NOT UPDATE PLEX Windows client until fix is well published!
I am getting the same error on HP laptop with intel video card. Plex has worked for years on this laptop. Now I am getting open GL 2.0 error pictured above.
Same issue here; worked fine this morning, and then received one of the daily/twice-daily update notices when I re-opened it. After the update, this is the error message I keep getting on start.
Same problem here, came with the last update 1.31.1.2262. Guess there is an error in the update and Plex is probably working hard to solve the problem…
And returning to the previous version (as suggested by vinestg above) works like a charm
So, Plex put out update Plex-1.31.1.2262-74fdc6b7-x86_64 today. and it did not fix the OpenGL startup issue. I had to revert to Plex-1.30.1.2115-81e1fc3f-x86_64 once again.
I blindly “Update” when Plex notified me and totally broke the app. Like many of you I’ve been running Plex for years without issues, so this was a bit of shocker.
I ultimately reverted to an older version that I had laying around and definitely will no longer taking updates when they’re suggested as this totally threw a wet blanket on date night (such as it is in the time of COVID.)
I need to poke around here and see if there are older versions of Plex available in case I run into this again and don’t have one handy. (Rollback to previous versions is a standard IT trick in cases like this.)
Thanks for the link! Downloaded it to save myself a headache.
It’s ironic; I’ve been seeing almost daily updates to the Windows App, and was going to investigate whether we can turn off automatic update checks or not… this just make me want that ability even more.
