Expected to play video on Chromecast.

Actually received the error message.

The Plex logo is on Chromecast. Says ready to cast. It never does. Playing from Chrome Version 72.0.3626.81 (Official Build) (64-bit).

Video plays fine in the browser. Otherwise, the Chromescast is also fine.

Plex Server is on Linux. Chrome is also on linux.

Have you attempted to restart it?

Yes, I restarted it just now and the same thing happened.

Is your server claimed (signed into)? DNS rebinding could also cause that I think

I signed in with my Plex pass account. And it enabled the premium features a few days ago.

Is there anything else should try?

Is there another update to chrome on linux?

This shows the latest for linux should be 72.0.3626.97

I’ve made a little progress on my own. I can now play on chromecast by changing the settings > network > secure connections > disabled. It was set to preferred. The must be a problem with Plex detecting that TLS isn’t working with Chromecast.

I was expecting more assistance from Plex, being a Plex Pass member.

I’m still looking for more details on exactly why this isn’t working.

There is this thread, which was why I thought about checking that Chrome is the latest version:

If is is working with secure connections turned off then it is likely DNS rebinding as I mentioned earlier. I don’t have your router manual to tell you how to disable that if it has it. You can try adding Google DNS to your router instead of whatever your ISP uses.

more basic info on DNS rebinding can be found here https://support.plex.tv/articles/206225077-how-to-use-secure-server-connections/#toc-4
