The server "X" does not have a valid connection for casting. Check that the server is claimed

Today I started getting an error when I try to cast Plex to my Chromecast. It says “The server “Jeff-PC” does not have a valid connection for casting. Check that the server is claimed in server settings.” I am running a Windows 10 machine and accessing Plex with Chrome 65.0.3325.181. I have already looked through the forums and I see other people have had this issue, but I have tried all the things other people have suggested and it still doesn’t work for me. I have tried restarted Plex server times. I can play content on the web portal and through the Plex Home Theater app. Interestingly for some reason, I cannot access my server at all on the Android app anymore, but I’m less worried about that as I rarely use the Plex android app. I opened the console in Chrome and I see this error “GET http://127.0.0.1:32400/video/:/transcode/universal/dash/rz7b8wlpsiac436juufabu9u/1/6.m4s 404 (Not Found)” but I don’t know if that is related at all since I think that error showed up before I tried to cast. I’ve found I am still able to cast if I don’t cast the Plex app in Chrome and instead cast the tab that has Plex in it. That is not a long term solution though since the resolution doesn’t seem to be as good casting it this way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figured it out. For some reason, it was a conflict with my anti-virus (Avast). I just toggeled the anti-virus firewall and it works now. I don’t know why simply turning the firewall off and back on would fix it but it seemed to have done the trick.

There are a couple of problems here:
The error message tells you to claim the Server in settings and yet there is nothing in settings that suggests “claim”, so we’re at a loss.
What’s happening is that there is an issue in security; it’s likely there have been an update or maybe you’ve setup a new Server during you being signed in?
To “claim” the Server, sign out and sign back in.
Reboot Chromecast if you want to.
Normal service will be restored.

The avast fix worked. Had to change settings from public to private network, restart plex, and it started working!
