Ever since the switch of EPG providers, I get less than half the program thumbnails for Live TV that I used too. Before the switch, I would have some missing thumbnails routinely, but they were usually for obscure or one off programs (which was understandable). But now major networks like CNN and Fox routinely have no thumbnails for even prime-time shows. I’ve tried re-downloading guide data numerous times and even deleting the HDHomeRun DVR and re-adding and re-scanning it. I tried the “download expanded guide data” option too. Nothing seems to make a difference. The new EPG provider just doesn’t seem to be providing very many program thumbnails.
This is on Plex Media Player 2.44 running in TV Mode.
I have the same issue. I have asked about it several times with no response from Plex. I also have shows with incorrect thumbnails and information. I wish they would make some sort of statement of direction for Plex DVR. If they dont really want to support it then just say it and I will stop using Plex as my DVR.
Well, I’m not sure what changed, but today I suddenly have thumbnails for almost everything just like I used to. I had given up trying to troubleshoot it myself, so I guess Plex fixed it on the backend.
I’ve been having this issue since the switch to the new EPG provider. But it’s kind of a weird mixed bag…for example, in my list of scheduled recordings…probably 80% of the entries have no thumbnail. However, if I go into my DVR library where all the TV recordings end up, they all have thumbnails. In the program guide (the new browse view thing they just added) there are almost no thumbnails at all.
I guess I spoke to soon, because now I’m starting to lose them again. The thumbnail rate is back down to about 50% and many of them aren’t exact matches. Many are instead vague matches like a head shot of the shows host instead of the usual thumbnail of the show.
I don’t understand why the same recurring major prime time programs will have thumbnail matches some days and not others.
