Every time i reset shieldtv i have to reinstall plex server

Player Version#:8.11.0.22186

Anyone have this issue and know how to solve it?

Every time I have to restart the ShieldTV, whenever I open Plex it says ā€œA new server has been found, click here to set up new serverā€ and I have to go through the setup steps. Once I do, it recognizes all the files, just don’t want to have to re-set it up every time I have to restart the ShieldTV.

Did you move your PMS data to an external storage location? If so, it could be the Shield hasn’t mounted that location yet after starting up. Next time, try waiting 3-5 minutes after the Shield finishes booting up before trying to access your PMS.

I did as you directed; waiting about 15 minutes after restarting ShieldTV. Still had the same issue. Says ā€˜new server found…install new server…setup complete’ and then my files are there.
Just annoying having to set it up every time.

That is odd. If going through the setup ends up showing your libraries, then the information is already there, just not accessible.

Did you move the storage location for PMS?

No. Like I said, I bought a new ShieldTV Pro and started a new server but used my old external hard drive that has all my media files. Could there be something stored on the external hard drive that is making the server restart every time??

Did you update PMS before using it? The version that comes pre-installed is quite old and does not work properly anymore.

Of course. That was the first thing I checked. Everything is on the current version.

Then I’m at a loss what’s going on. Next time this happens, can you grab the app logs, Android, Android TV, Fire TV Logs | Plex Support, and the PMS logs, Plex Media Server Logs | Plex Support.
