Exclusive audio mode on windows

I am able to do this within the main plex for windows app now, which is great as I use a dedicated amp and have multiple different bitrate/sample rate files so would quite like to use the better interface of plexamp but with the flexibility of the main app!

i don’t use the windows app, can you elaborate what you mean? i’m confused… i use Plexamp all day everyday, what does it not do if not audio?

It prevents other apps from using the same audio output as Plex. So no notification sounds, etc when watching a movie/show/etc. Additional details in the docs.

See Plex Docs -> Plex for Windows / Mac -> Audio Configuration.

Interesting… TIL. Thank you for enlightening me sirs… or madams…

as FordGuy61 says it’s more of a control thing. If windows is controlling, the dac doesn’t adjust it’s settings to match the files that are being played, but if plex controls it, it’ll play ball.

it’s not a make or break thing, but the fact it’s in the main Plex build, i figure it shouldn’t be that hard to add

I could be wrong, but I think that under WASAPI Exclusive mode, some effects PlexAmp are using (loudness leveling, sweet fades, equalizer) would not be possible, because exclusive mode would pass the audio unaltered.

Are we talking about Plexamp?
is it possible to set Wasapi in Plexamp?
since when?

if it is i’d like to know how!

I was under the impression that PlexAmp only uses WASAPI under windows. Just not exclusive mode, for the reasons I said.

Not 100% sure though.

I’m afraid not
if WASAPI was active you would see it in the Windows audio mixer

Any word on this?

this really is essential if Plex want this app to be a contender in the all ready crammed audio player market… Relying on system audio and its crappy resampling is just unacceptable for any music player in this day and age.
