Not sure the best place to put this. I see lots of discussion about this, so I think it’s really important to keep asking. I’m a long time plex pass user and I really love Plex!
But it is missing a critical - native built in feature:
Playlist Import and Playlist Export.
How export would work is simple : Use 2 Export Files
Plex Native so any plex server can import
2 M3U
For import it’s trickier:
Plex compatible
Advanced - user would have to format the file or run through some kind of mapping wizard.
Why do we need this?
Exporttools is a server only option - does not work on mobile devices.
Users with large collections of music are savvy enough to manage their own playlists. This could be a plexpass only feature.
Without this feature, I will not be relying on plex for any music playlists - as different plex version upgrades have left me with several playlists that are now orphaned on the device (they don’t sync anymore). So, without export, I will need to recreate manually.
Yep exactly but I think we are waiting for nothing ! My experience with Plex shows me they don’t care much about interesting and basic features for users but more on elaborate and messy stuffs like Tidal… Music library management like it’s in Plex right now that is not able to handle multi-artists, or have basic feature of import/export is not a music library management system, it’s just a collection of files ! Sorry for being rude but I’m very bored since years I’m a plex pass member to see that Plex has not yet implemented these basic features
Yup, agreed. There seems to be a lot of work on Tidal and other confusing features, whereas we would be much happier if some basic features would work, like import/export of playlists. If it is a deliberate action to keep people tied to Plex, I can tell you that this is counter productive.
