This is something i have been thinking about this past month, and I can't quite understand why no one seems to be talking about the potential of this thing.
Currently the PS4 doesn't support media playback off an external HDD or even internal. And no doubt sooner or later they would change that. I believe the PS4 lends itself nicely to a dedicated Plex app that basically focuses on movies, shows and music and all the metadata acquisition related to them. The app can simply save all its content to the ext. HDD that has all your content connected to the PS4.
Sony is fully behind self publishing and relatively very open. I think an app like this one the Playstation 4 sold for as much as $5-$10 will be a great addition. And I think set top box like the PS4 that is already designed to be in a living room will be a perfect fit for Plex.
What do you guys think? And how hard do you think something like this may be to pull off? Lets get this ball rolling people.
