External SRT causes transcoding failure on LG player

Server Version#: 1.41.2.9200
Player Version#: 5.90.1 on WebOS 7.4.0

When I play a clip on Windows client, it direct plays with subs.
When I play the same clip on LG w/o subs, it direct plays.
When I play the same clip on LG w/ subs, most of the times it fails with
“Conversion failed. Transcoder exited due to an error.”

…and sometimes it direct plays (!!!)

Subtiles: external SRT

Plex client subtitles ON/OFF result
Windows ON direct play audio/video/subs
LG OFF direct play audio/video
LG ON transcoding error

The same behavior has been seen with several media files.

I want to keep this thread going. Different issue than cremor linked as it has nothing to do with fast forwarding.

I’m unable to play MP4 files with SRT subtitles on my LG CX. I get “Conversion failed. Transcoder exited due to an error.”

I cannot play with subtitles either with the native LG Plex app or through Chromecast and this only happens on my LG TV. I can play with any subtitles on my computer, my phone and on my Vizio TV. It seems specifically tied to external subtitles as the OP has shown.

How can I share logs or any more relevant information?
