TV Show extras aren’t being found/showing up

Hi,

I’m trying to use the new(ish) feature which allows/recognizes local extras for TV shows. I’m following the instructions here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/local-files-for-tv-show-trailers-and-extras/.

I have a single folder titles “Featurettes” in the folder titled after the TV show. It’s not buried into a season folder (which I also tried too) said the info said we could just use them in the folder and Plex would read the extras type from the folder name.

Just as a trial, I also appended -featurette to one of the files and placed it in the season level folder, as the also wiki indicates as a secondary option.

However, despite trying both file naming options, I can’t find these extras anywhere within the TV show. I see two of the online trailers but nothing else. I do have a lifetime PlexPass. Am I missing where I should find these extras? I’ve checked under the show’s extras area (where the online trailers show up) as well as season level and episode level. Do I need to turn on this feature in the settings somewhere? I can’t understand what’s happening.

Any ideas or info would be amazing. Thanks in advance!

What Plex client are you using?

Note: Certain clients do not yet fully support TV extras but keep an eye out on our forum as our support pages will be updated once official support is available. Currently, the only clients that fully support extras at all levels are the mobile iOS and Android apps. Other apps like the Web client, Android TV, Apple TV and Roku have limited support while the modern TV interface for Smart TVs does not yet have support for any local TV extras.

Ah, great info. However, I did just check and none of the files using either naming scheme are showing up in the iOS app, either. I was checking in the web app, which I now know isn’t supported but the iOS app isn’t working either (I’ve checked on two different devices) and it is listed as supported.

Any other thoughts as to what I could do to get Plex to see these? I understand that as far as the web interface, etc, I’ll just need to sit tight and wait for support, but since the iOS app also isn’t finding them, something must be going wrong.

Please share the specific organization and naming of your local extras inside the tv-show’s folder.
I assume you did refresh the show’s metadata for Plex to pick those up?

@tom80H - you solved it. I had done a forced file scan numerous time (20 or so?) and it wasn’t picking it up. The refresh metadata did. I thought that the scan files should have found them. Is that not the case for TV extras? I’m just wondering why the forced file scan didn’t find them the first time. Either way, super happy it’s working now. A bonus: it’s also working on the web interface.

Just for others who might look at this later on (and for completeness in answering your question), my specific naming convention is:

Media>TV Shows>Show Name
Then I tried both ways in the wiki:

(Picking up from above:)
Show Name>Featurettes
(Wiki did not bury these in season folders).

I also tried the other way listed in the wiki, too:
Show Name>Season>extrasfile-featurette
