Server Version#: 1.20.2.3402
Player Version#: 4.43.1
I migrated my server from a Synology NAS to a Windows 10 machine using this guide. All went well and the new server is up and running with the correct data. However I’m getting a ‘Failed to establish a secure connection’ when using app.plex.tv to access my data. This ‘error’ isn’t there when connecting on LAN, but I’d like to access my data from outside my LAN. The server has a static IP and a port is forwarded to the LAN IP of the server. Canyouseeme.org returns a ‘success’ on the combination of my ip and the port (the same port as set in the server settings).
Router: Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 4, I tried the ‘rebind-domain-ok=/plex.direct/’ in the DNS forwarding section with no luck. Also set the DNS servers to the google servers, same result.
I could set the ‘secure connection’ setting to disabled, but would prefer not to.
did you find anything yet i have the same issue for the same versions. only external players have this issue… i tried the same fix even removing reinstalling downgrading… im running out of ideas it was working well for a long time and all of sudden it started doing it.
Kind of relieving to hear other users are having the same problem. I haven’t found anything yet, it seems I’ve tried everything. I will definitely let you know if I find something though!
Same here im not sure if its the same for you but recently like Wednesdayi think there was some issue with the plex via website add trouble managing via the web and downdetector was reporting issue. but i feel like its there it started for me.
If you look on down detector 5 days ago some ppl where complaining of the same issue.
I don’t exactly know when this issue started. I didn’t check if everything was working on my NAS before transferring to my new PC, so I don’t know if its a problem with the transfer, with plex or with my router
Another user here chiming in with the same problem. Have tried a ton of troubleshooting (including replacing the default router DNS entries with Google) and still no luck.
I am having this issue also, very frustrating as it happened when my database got lost also. Trying to get it all back up, but keep having to connect insecurely
Yes, chiming in as yet another user with “failure to establish secure connection”. Also noticing that plex keeps reporting that it is “not available outside your network”. This has been really problematic, as I keep losing connectivity to the outside, although nothing has changed on my port forwarding. Please help!
Hmm. Same issue here. It happens to coincide with moving my Plex server to a new machine (following this guide). I’ve been thinking I missed a step.
I can connect at localhost:32400 and get the green lock, but if I connect from anywhere else — LAN or WAN — I get the warning.
I’ve signed out and signed back in. I’ve disconnected the server from my account and re-claimed it.
My firewall is pfSense, and I have set the DNS Resolver settings to allow DNS rebinding (as described here).
Having cloned the whole system from one machine to another, both running Debian 9, the only difference between the old server and the new server is the version of PMS.
I have the same issue beginning Oct 2 on the current release. I have turned off secure connection on my network settings. It does not change the error. I think the Digicert certificate is recreated when you initially sign on to the server. It seems the cert is not working properly.
This morning I have posted separately with additional information.
Same issue here after changing my password and logging back into my server.
There was a similar thread for linux users that indicated cert issues and I’m seeing the following in the logs which seems similar to what they were addressing in that thread.
ERROR - CERT: Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 404
I came across a other thread referencing the certificate 404 error. I switched my server off and replied with my server name. ChuckPa went ahead and removed/reset the certificate for my server. I started my server and everything was working like it should be. Maybe it’ll work for you too.
Same issue here but with Mac OS Server. Don’t know when the issue started but I can’t login from app.plex.tv anymore via a secure connection. Apps do work apparently (altough I did not get a error so far)…
I am having a similar issue as well, moved Plex to a new system following the guide.
After the move the only way to access it is by using the unsecure connection connection.
I have tried rolling back to an earlier version but still will not use a secure connections. I have secure connection Preferred selected but it won’t connect unless I change it to unsecure. Plex functions perfectly fine otherwise. Has anyone figured out how to get secure connection working? I went back to the latest version of Plex 10.20.3.3401 for now.
I would like not to disable secure connection for logging in through the web interface.
