Failing to play a set of mkv videos

I’ve got a number of mkv video files that fail to play. I’ve tagged this android-tv, but it also fails with the web player, with the Plex app on my Android phone. Digging into one of the files, this is the metadata:

FWIW, these files play fine locally on a Chromebook, or through VLC.

Can you upload the file to google drive / dropbox? Then I can test it on my setup?

Sure thing. Here it is: 1x001 - A Moon Star Is Born.mkv - Google Drive

Cool. I’ll check this out on my Plex setup tonight. I have a Ubuntu Linux server & Rokus on all my TVs.

The file played fine, SD h.264 video, AAC audio.

Hmm, so I tried to launch the video while watching the logs on the plex server and I see these errors:

Oct 14, 2021 17:36:35.538 [0x7fadfdb97b38] Warning — Caught exception trying to convert extra data attribute ‘originallyAvailableAt’ with type 1 and value ‘1992-03-07’ ~ bad lexical cast: source type value could not be interpreted as target

At times I also see this kind of error message:
Oct 14, 2021 17:39:59.909 [0x7fae00cc3b38] Warning — QueryParser: Invalid field ‘libraryHubsOnly’ found, ignoring.

I’m running the Plex server on a QNAP NAS device, and it’s version 1.24.4.5081

It also played on a RPi w/ PlexMediaServer-1.24.4.5081-e362dc1ee on a Vizio TV.

However it wont play in a web browser., Firefox on Win 10. I ran the file thru mkclean, that version also errors out.

I also converted it to a mp4 with ffmpeg and both versions, original & mkclean version, both fail to play in a web browser.

Its time for a Plex Ninja to take over. Post all the logs when its trying to play so they can figure it out.
