Family member profiles using 1 Plex Account

When running Plex on an XBOX One (home) with a number of local accounts for your family members, ie your kids there is a problem in using the same Plex login between all Plex sessions. Through plex one has the ability to add local accounts which do not require a Plex login, but work locally with defined restrictions. This is great to cut up your content and allow some users to see things others cant.

The issue I have is that if I login to my Gamer profile on the XBOX One and run the Plex app, it requires a PIN. This is normal and resolved very quickly. Once I have logged in, I can select my own user or a family members profile to start watching content. Now if say a family member logs in to their XBOX One profile, and then runs Plex, it will ask them to enter a PIN. Since I have already done this under my primary profile, and since I am the owner of the Plex account with my linked family accounts I need to re-authenticate. This is fine if its only required for the first time, but if I go back to my XBOX One Profile, and then re-run Plex, I have to again type in a PIN. This happens back and forth each time the opposite user wants to use the Plex App…

Help!

Annoying right? I’m not a big fan of the current implementation of managed users, but that’s the way it was designed. As soon as the Xbox One app was updated to include managed users, folks mentioned issues with the design (check out this post: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1212378/#Comment_1212378). Unfortunately, the workaround appears to be broken too as you can’t even create plex accounts and link the plex accounts to the xbox account anymore.

The last mention about this I believe was back in early July. @jmckee spoke to @Moussa, but the only response was that Plex knows about it. Unfortunately, there’s no timeline. And info regarding an update to the Xbox One app have been hard to come by.

Ahh ok thanks for the update! I guess I’ll just have to keep raising the issue and managing it on my side  thanks!
