Must sign in every time the Xbox profile is switched

So my girlfriend and I both use the Xbox One and both have our own profiles on it. When it comes to Plex, we have a few of our own shows, but mostly watch everything together, so we share a username. The problem is, every time we log into Plex on one profile, the other needs to log in again next time it's brought up.

I can see why you would want the ability to have each xbox profile use their own Plex login, but I'm hoping you add a way to tie two profiles to a single Plex login. Having to login again every time the other person sits down at the TV is tedious.

Yes, it is tedious at present.  Please remember it is still 'preview' and in 'beta' form.  The single profile issue is well known and being addressed.  It is my understanding it will be fully implemented to support multiple profiles before leaving 'plex pass-only' status.

Thank you ChuckL. I did a quick looking around this forum and didn't see anything mentioning it. As long as it's known and being addressed, I'm happy :)

So what is the status of this, now, almost 5 months later? Are we still pending 'plex pass-only' status?

ChuckL seems to be speaking on behalf of the devs yet there is no evidence that the devs have ever said anything of the sort.  At least that's my opinion.

There are:

1. xbox profiles

2. Plex.tv users (which may or may not be plex pass subscribers)

3. Managed users that are tied to a single Plex account

Some workarounds have been given stating that a multi-user capability to link an Xbox profile to a user needs multiple #2 accounts to be established with anybody's local plex server tied to a #2 plex.tv account with a plex pass.

The ideal situation is:

Plex server tied to a plex.tv account with plex pass

Xbox profile tied to managed users of the plex.tv account with plex pass.

This hasn't been coded or released or stated as any sort of priority.

Some "Plex pass" users, such as ChuckL, state information that is unsubstantiated and that no dev or plex team member has actually stated.

"The single profile issue is well known and being addressed" would seem to be glacial in its progress and acknowledgement by the devs.

The issue boils down to this:

What is the easiest way a household of multiple people with multiple devices at multiple ages can enforce parental controls on Plex.  The reality, today, is more fragmented than ever.  Basically local users should NOT have to have yet another account (plex.tv).  The "managed user" mechanism is already well established.

Quite frankly it's embarassing.

I do not speak for the developers or Plex in ANY capacity, nor have I ever claimed such a posture.  I have no 'Ninja' status.

Have you developed software using the Microsoft SDK?   Apparently not.

If you wish to better understand my position, the position of others, and become better informed, I strongly suggest you read the entire thread https://forums.plex.tv/topic/143351-the-need-to-vent-better-communication-needed

Everything you say is hearsay.

I cannot locate one Plex staff/dev comment regarding any such issue being addressed.

This forum is a complete shambles too (try figuring out which issues are being addressed/checked out/deferred) is next to impossible without reading dozens of pages.

The thread you reference has 15 pages of people telling Plex how to run a decent business and support their PAYING users.

No stickied threads.

FAQ not updated

No mention of timeframes

No mention of development hurdles that make their life harder

For all we know, Plex for Xbox One is developed by some guy in his parent's basement part-time on weekends when he's not at a rave.  I'm sure that's not the case but the lack of any transparency is poor business practice.

Would you like some crackers to go with your whine?

There are a lot of us who are as upset as you.   That's why the thread happened.  Carlo happened to start it this time

You obviously didn't get to where I stated what I'm doing because of what's not being accomplished.

Have a nice day

Keep up the good work.

I hope and wish that someone at Plex cares.

There are too many fan-bois who reinterpret items on why things are designed the way they are due to a Microsoft SDK limitation when no Plex dev has even stated it as a fact.

Interesting fact:  VLC is about to be released on Xbox One - My bet they don't use in-built codecs.  Why can't Plex do this? (devs feel free to answer!)

We are aware that the app doesn't yet support Plex Home and managed users, and the plex.tv route is a workaround, for now. ChuckL is correct that it will be addressed and we're aware of it.

The forums are a daunting pile, for all of us. We're obviously aware that there is room for improvements here. We're listening to the other thread as well.

I also should point out that I work in an attic space, not a basement, and it's my own house. I also don't like raves or dance music. Indie is more my thing. Just to clear those important issues up  :D
