Fast Forward and Rewind features not working

I did a little looking around on this before I came here but it seemed like everyone was talking about Rasplex v0.1.x and the threads were really old - plus I kept reading that this problem would be fixed once Rasplex version was based off Gotham - and I have no idea if it is :)

So, I just installed Rasplex on my Rpi last night - I believe it is 0.4.1.  Anyhow, I'm using my tv remote through CEC and when I attempt to fast forward a movie, the movie continues to play at normal speed(with no sound) and the fast forward speed counter increases every time I press the fast forward button again - however, it just isn't fast forwarding.

I was wondering if I switched my software update settings from "stable" to "pre-release", perhaps there is a newer version which has this problem addressed?

Any info would be greatly helpful.  Thanks!

If I need to upload logs or anything that's fine, but I'm new at the Rasplex setup and I don't really know how to retrieve the logs - maybe ssh?

0.4.1 is the latest version, changing to pre-release channel gives you 4.1

Known issue at the moment, should be fixed soon. You can use the left/right arrows on your CEC remote to skip backwards/forwards, not the same but it helps. If I remember rightly each press skips 15 seconds, subsequent presses increments the skip.

A new version with 'Plex Home' is in the works, hopefully this will be released soon after this function goes out of Plex Pass into general release.

Regards

Ok - good info.  I appreciate that.  Hey, you say :

If I'm reading that correctly, a paid subscription to Plex Pass would award me with a newer release version than 0.4.1 for my Rpi?

Cool, good to know the fix is on the radar. BTW, in addition to left/right arrows (15 or 30 sec skip), up/down can be used for 10 min (I think) skip.

No your not reading it right, it wouldn't, 0.4.1 is the latest version, and you don't need a Plex Pass to use it.

That sounds like good news! They just released a new PHT for PlexPass. I hope they release a "general" release soon so we can get a new Rasplex :)

When PHT 1.3.1 goes out of Plex Pass, not Rasplex, Rasplex is based on PHT.

Ned, what exactly do you mean by "goes out of plex pass"?

Sorry, have edited the post.

0.5 is out; unfortunately the seek problem is still there…

And will be until Plex HT merges with Helix, no timescale available, out of our control, sorry.

Skip forwards/backwards still works.

hello,

sorry if in the wrong thread, but i searched all over the place and was not able to find a similar problem, i also have fastforward issues.

i use as plex server a WHS2011 on HP Micro Gen8 dedicated for PLEX.

client which i have a problem is a raspberry b+ with rasplex v.0.5 (updated on the weekend from version 4)

when i fastforward, the 30 seconds button or 15 seconds back it does not go as seemless, as for an example on playstation or on the smartphone.

one button press on my tv remote (panasony and hdmi cec) will end in fastword 30 seconds, with caching and buffering.

i can not press let´s say 10 seconds and fastforward 5 minutes, i have to press 10 or 15 times until i get´s to the point where i want to be, that is very annoying.

it is not a remote issue, since i have the same buffering/caching issue when i am fastwording with mouse and keyboard.

so is there a setting which i dont see? i use the rasplex with directplay over gigabit lan (raspberry only hast 100mbit port, so its 100 there).

any input much appreciated and thanks in advance

cheers

What you describe is the way Rasplex works at the moment, there is no fast forward or rewind only skip, big skips or little skips, FF/RW won't be available until the upstream merge with Helix.

I also notice that use up/down arrows of my remote allow to skip for 10 minutes. It may be useful in some case.
