Fast Forward Preview feature - mismatch. Help!

Most of my videos have the wrong previews for Fast forward preview. I finally got a screenshot of it…Watching The Magicians but the previews are for The Flash.

This becomes a serious issue when the rpeviews are from a video shorter than the one you are watching. You can’t fast forward past the time of the preview thumbnails - for example, a 1-hour video that gets a 42 minute for its previews can’t be fast forwarded past 42 minutes.

Help!

that’s incredibly weird. never seen it mismatch like that. does this just happen randomly? like the next time you watch that episode are the previews correct? or will that episode always be wrong

What version number of server do you have?

Have you optimized the database lately?

It’s consistent. Very few are correct. My server is 0.9.16.0.1754 on Ubuntu. And no, I haven;t optomized the database. That may be the source of a lot of my problems. I’ll figure out how to do that, thanks

It’s consistent. Most are mismatched, and they stay mismatched.

The server is set to optomize every 3 days, but I just went and did it again.

Is there any way to tell a library to reset and rescan?

Ouch that sucks… I wouldn’t want to have to re scan and index all of that media again… Seems like somehow your index files were put in the wrong folders by plex. I would wait to do anything on it, but I have a feeling you might have to delete those library’s and re add them.

Index files? Where are these index files? How can I take a look and see what they’re doing?

He is referencing Video Preview Thumbnails. We called the index files when they were first being developed.

When you edit a library there is an option to delete the Video Preview Thumbnails. If you still have them enabled in the library and the server setting enabled for when to create them they will be created during your scheduled tasks time frame and when media is added if that is what you have set. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202197528-Video-Preview-Thumbnails
