Favorites libraries are stuck!

Hello there

I’m running two Plex servers - a main server that I actively use and a backup server. I’m experiencing a persistent issue with the Android app where it consistently displays the backup server’s libraries as favorites instead of my main server’s libraries.

What I’ve tried:

  • Manually changing the favorite libraries within the app

  • Clearing the app data

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the app

Current behavior: Despite these attempts, every time I close and reopen the app, it reverts to showing the backup server’s libraries as favorites (and only the old libraries not the new one). This issue is occurring on two separate Android devices.

Questions:

  • Is there a server-side setting that might be causing this behavior?

  • Could this be related to how the app prioritizes servers when both are accessible?

  • Are there any additional troubleshooting steps I should try?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156 (both servers , one running in ubuntu and on running in docker)
Player Version#: 2025.28.0

How did you setup your backup server? Did you use the guide to migrate/clone a server? If you keep the original server after such a „migration“, Plex will consider both to be the same as they share the same machine identifiers (parameters in the plex preferences file).

If you want to create a clone, you should remove the machine identifiers before starting the new servers.

The backup server isn’t a clone or migration - it’s a completely separate Plex instance that I configured from scratch. I manually replicated the same library paths and settings to match the primary server, so each has its own unique machine identifiers. They’re independent instances configured identically.

Since Plex syncs watch history, the backup serves as a fallback when the primary server is down or inaccessible. The issue is with the Android app: even when it automatically switches to the backup server, it doesn’t show all the libraries. Every time I open the app, I have to manually reconfigure and rearrange my favorites. The web version works fine without any issues.
