I would like to be able to export playlist information in case of server issues, then import them in the event of a failure.
I have just had to reinstall my OS and Plex. I had 78 playlists on the server, but no way to export them. I had backed up the Plex Media Server folder in Users, but it had become corrupted due to my system crashing repeatedly due to a defective driver that was killing my server. When I re-added the Plex Media Server folder I was able to see all my media and my playlists, but I was unable to get Plex to match new movies at all. I made Plex start matching again by removing the Plex Media Server folder, but that, of course, lost all my metadata and playlists.
The ability to export a file that contains the playlists and then import them in the case of an emergency would be a godsend to anyone who has to re-image due to corruption.Feat

You could try to copy the main database file over from your old installation. It may contain at least the playlists and the ‘watched’ statistic.
If the latest db file is corrupted, try one of the backups.
I copied the database, but it was corrupted and wouldn’t let Plex match new movies for some reason. I moved the database out and it worked again.
Can you re-import your playlists with ExportTools? If so, I will definitely give it a shot! It would also be amazing if this functionality was built into the application directly.

No, unfortunately not.
Damn.
Well, maybe they can add this functionality to PMS. That would be great. I have clarified my post above too… I was not very clear in my request. Inarticulate, as it were.
This will hopefully brighten your day (at least a little):
The author of Export Tools has included .m3u8 export for playlists. It should get released soon.
