I run PMS on a Mac Mini and keep the media on a Synology DS413j. The only way to update the database when a new show is downloaded is to turn on the periodic scan feature. Almost every evening, I have a favorite show download but I have to either wait for PMS to scan for it on its pre-defined schedule or I have to login to the Mac Mini and force it to scan. It would be so much more convenient if the Plex clients had a button that would force PMS to scan. That way, I just click one button and sit back for a few minutes instead of logging in and doing it the hard way. It would make it much more “family friendly.” My wife often says if I die, she’d never be able to watch tv again…
The shortest period between periodical updates is 15 minutes if you can’t wait then:
- Maybe your downloading software is offering to run a script or update library after successful download?
