[Feature Request] Apple TV True HD transcode to EAC3 Atmos

Apple TV does not (and most likely never will) support True HD. It does, however, support Dolby Atmos lossy via EAC3. Is it possible to get Plex to transcode in real time the True HD stream into EAC3 keeping Dolby Atmos? I get that it will transcode a lossless format into a lossy format, but that is much better than the current situation where it is transcoded to 5.1 and we lose Atmos.

Many of us also have a SONOS ARC to consider in this configuration. The SONOS ARC does not support LCPM. They say one day it might do, but we don’t want to have to wait on the “one day”. SONOS are notoriously slow at providing new features… Any chance this can be fixed within Plex?

I’d be willing to pay/fund the development time to make this happen if that can help expedite this request.

So why is it that the Infuse app on Apple TV will play Dolby Atmos, and the Plex app will not?

I too have the Sonos ARC setup, connected via HDMI eARC on my Samsung S95B, and the Plex app on my Sasmsung will play Dolby Atmos, as will ever other app (AT+, Netflix, Prime, Infuse) on my Apple TV, but not the Plex app on the Apple TV… WTF?
