[Feature Request]: Auto Plex Dance Metadata Refresh

I would like to see a Plex Dance feature added to some future version of PMS.

“Think how you would explain this feature to someone who has never thought of it.
Keeping in mind that the majority of people using Plex are not advanced users, is this a feature that only you and a small number of other advanced users would use or is it something that will be used by a majority of the userbase?
Can your mother, father, wife, husband, sister, brother, grandmother, or grandfather use this feature without a CS degree?”

This is quoted from the “How to create a feature request” post. Yet when someone wants to change a metadata agent, they have to dance. I’m not going to be putting anyone on the Moon, in the next week, but I can count past potato, and I don’t understand the Plex Dance.

I don’t want to lose all the time and work I’ve put into organizing my media the way I want it. But when the imdb rating system came out, I switched it over… or did I?

Well it turns out, I did not. To make my change work, I would have to ignore;

“… is it something that will be used by a majority of the userbase?
Can your mother, father, wife, husband, sister, brother, grandmother, or grandfather use this feature without a CS degree?”

We need a way to change metadata agents, where Plex dances for us; or he who pays the piper calls the tune.

Please vote for me, by clicking the like button, and pass this on to others so it doesn’t get buried. Feel free to comment, but remember “+1”, is not a vote.

The Plex Dance is a workaround for a bug that has existed for quite some time, which is that the Refresh command doesn’t do what it is supposed to do. Since the Plex Dance can be data destructive, what’s needed is not an automatic version of it. What’s needed is a fix for the problems that necessitate the dance, so it is no longer needed.

Agreed. Since, no one seems to be interested in fixing the bug, I thought I would phrase it as a feature request. Pointing out that the features being requested by members were to be so easy that grandparents could do it, all the while have a bug so famous, it got a name, and required a series of complacated maneuvers that could end in failure.

Perhaps if enough attention is drawn to it, votes etc. Then they may be inclined to fix it.

It would be nice to have this bug fixed or this feature added

I came here today to suggest just this either Fix the Bug already or add this feature.
