Feature Request: Cloud Sync Support with Amazon Cloud Drive

It has been added

Took a while to connect and sync - almost 2 days. But after I disconnected Amazon, restarted PMS, reinstalled plex after finding out despite saying it was up to date, I wasn’t, and re-linking, - I started with single uploads and I have 2 movies at 1080p that stream great! Hopefully the others get uploaded just as successful.

Would like this feature.

+1 for Amazon Cloud Drive.

Where has it been added!?

Just go to GDrive from google. Unlimited storage, no video time limit cap, you can edit videos and supports more video formate. Just a better platform than Amazon.

Very pissed off at Amazon after uploading hundreds of gigs only to find out 80% of my videos don’t work me cause of that stupid 20 minute cap. Moving to GDrive.

google drive isn’t unlimited storage, where in the world did you get that from?

What 20 minute cap? I am looking all over for info on Amazon sync and cant find anything in relation to how it would operate with Plex…

As Cloud Sync is a plexpass only feature it doesn’t seem as though you have tried it out seeing as you are not a plexpass subscriber.

There is such a thing as Amazon Cloud Drive API for Developers which allows for streaming of nearly any length video. Further, Plex would not go through the trouble of adding ACD to Cloud Sync if streaming was restricted to 20 minutes…

Hi All,

Can anyone advise if this can be done with a UK Amazon account? I am looking into this as an option and would welcome any advice.

Many thanks,

Terry

I’ve been testing my 1.5TB library in Amazon Unlimited Storage with NetDrive2 for the past week and here are my findings:

  • Uploading with NetDrive2 is about 1-2MB/s, while uploading with the dedicated desktop app gives me 5-6MB/s

  • Files uploaded with Desktop app won’t appear in the mapped drive instantly, but over the course of a day they will, reconnecting the NetDrive2 solves the problem

  • Playback of higher bitrate 1080p content is not possible (NetDrive2 seems to give me around 1-1.5MB/s downstream only)

  • Scanning library via NetDrive2 mount is tediously slow, around one file per second (scanning my TV series library takes almost an hour when I add a couple of new files).

  • Scanning library via NetDrive2 mount is giving me a lot of files that aren’t scraped correctly (100% correctly named folder structure and files, but random episodes keep popping out from the correct series and appear as lone tv series/lone season/lone episode number) – some of these files were correctly placed upon initial scan, but new refreshesh of library break stuff

It’s a 3 month trial, and I’ll keep testing stuff, but for now it seems this is not a good way to use Plex.

It is meant for using with Cloud Sync feature…

I wasn’t talking about Cloud Sync, I was talking about using it as a Network Drive as it’s possible via NetDrive2. I’m not the only one who was wondering if it would be viable and this thread was the top result when googling about it, so it made sense to reporty my findings here.

Anyway, came to update that using Plex Optimize with On Deck and manually ticking optimize for rips that are very high quality seems to be a decent, albeit time consuming workaround.

I’m most likely not going to continue with the subscription after the 3 month trial ends, but will keep updating my findings here. Time to shell some cash for new hard drives instead.
