Reopening because my request was closed incorrectly as a duplicate request. Also, I am asking for a feature. Please either accept the request or decline it on its merits. I have a paid plex subscription, please treat me as a paying customer.
Feature request: On the home screen (or any other relevant screen), create a toggle slider that allows to show “All titles” or “Titles not marked as played”. This would be particularly helpful for the “Recently Added…” This request is to add a simple button, not to create and manage smart collections.
Please excuse my ignorance… but how is your suggestion different from the thread to which I’ve been pointing you? I don’t mean to offend… just trying to understand because I’m not currently seeing it.
It’s asking for an option (=your toggle?) to hide watched/played content in hubs on the home screen.
The OP of the other thread informed others that using a smart collection published to the home screen is working for their particular use case – that doesn’t invalidate or disqualify the suggestion
Thanks for the question. So, on my home screen, I have 6 recently added lists/categories (recently watched adults movies, recently watched kids movies, recently watched TV, etc…). Each of those is a mix watched and unwatched content.
What I am requesting is a single toggle button on the top of the home screen that would filter all content on the home screen at once that I can toggle on and off to show/filter all/unwatched content.
If that already exists somehow, I would appreciate if you could guide me. Having to set up smart collections for each of the libraries though is a lot more work. I was hoping a simple feature/button could address this instead.
But isn’t such an option exactly what the other thread is asking for?
Let’s leave the smart collection approach out for a moment… while it’s certainly an option for some, it doesn’t seem to be the point of the original suggestion
Edit: And to answer your question… no, Plex doesn’t currently have such an option.
That thread is indeed asking for the same thing but that thread is marked solved (not solved in reality) and that user suggested resolution (smart collection user workaround) is not what I am asking for. I am asking for the simple toggle button, not the multi-step smart collection workaround.
With the other thread marked as “resolved” by the user (because of the workaround), I am guessing the request will not get any attention or further upvotes.
The other thread is in no way “resolved” – the OP expressly stated that smart collections will do the job for them but the thread itself is perfectly open and valid.
As for votes… the existing suggestion has almost 20 votes while you didn’t even vote for your own suggestion.
I’m happy to emphasize in the other thread that the OP found a workaround for themselves and that the suggestion isn’t “resolved”. However, please respect the rules for feature suggestions and don’t insist on maintaining a duplicate thread – that’ll only further distract votes and attention. You’re perfectly welcome to make that exact point in the existing thread (e.g. pointing out that you still deem it a necessary feature as the approach using published collections doesn’t cut it for your use case – using the example you gave about toggling the hubs vs. smart collections just covering 1 aspect but not allowing any toggling).
I’ll therefore close this thread as a duplicate (again).
No disrespect to you as a paying customer of Plex. Just maintaining some order in the chaos of a feature suggestion forum
2022 clean-up: duplicate
Added remark to original thread that workaround mentioned by OP is just a workaround and not obsoleting the actual suggestion.
