Pretty sure this has been asked before but it still hasn’t happend.
- Add Composer tag. This will help with breaking out classical music by composer vs. performer
- Add Album Year tag. Supposedly you can sort your albums by year but I can’t make it work and regardless I want to know the release date on the album.
- Add Comment Tag. I may have three versions of a single CD. Original, Remaster, Bonus Edition, Remix, who knows. I give them all the same album name and year, different disc numbers to segment them, but would like to show the comment which is where I put the descriptions as above.
- I also tag songs in the comments with a phrase (RADIOMIX for example) that makes it easier to filter to them and add them to a playlist. Comment is not an option in the custom filters. Funny thing, YEAR is but you still can’t SEE the year.
- There needs to be some better way to reload just PART of a library. If you edit the tags for the music of one group and want to update just them, you can refresh metadata, unmatch and match, and none of it seems to actually DUMP what it has and look at those files as if it had never seen them until then. I end up having to remove them, scan the entire library then put them back and scan again. This is not a good idea when you have 400,000 songs in your library.
- Column view under artist. Much like Itunes, present all the songs of an artist or album in a column format with title, artist, year, length, comment, plays, rating, composer, etc. Allow the end user to select the columns desired at the global, genre, artist and/or album level.
- Finally we need something other than just last.fm. It seems to know a lot about the last 20 years but not that much about anything else. If you put in the Jazz group Hiroshima, you get a photo and description of a Sweedish heavy metal band. If you put in Mozart, you get an Italian disco guy named Mozzart. An agent for allmusic.com might help.
In other words PLEX needs to understand that there are people out there who aren’t 15 and have more than a few hundred random songs from just the past 7 years. I have over four terabytes of music.
