It would be nice to be able to add accounts in the Friends section to allow to use the main accounts LiveTV and not have them add them to your Home account. I have 4 NVidia shield each with a different account and now every time I start the app I have to select a user and type the passcode. You just killed ease of use.
‘Friend’ accounts will not get access to live tv. Ever.
That is a different issue.
Activate ‘Automatic logon’ in the preferences of the Plex client on the Shield.
Why won’t live TV be available “ever”?
I would like to have this option too, so why wouldn’t Plex consider this? I have “friends” that I would like to share my tuner with (live TV), and inconvenient to have those particular friends in my “My Home” group like I am doing now.
So technically right now I can share my tuner(s) to my friends, but have to designate them as “My Home” group and their login shows up as an addition user where ideally I would only have mine in there. Or even create a third group just for TV tuners / live TV so their user ID doesn’t show up every time I log in.
Since I have had to add friends into my “My Home” group for the purpose of watching TV, I now use a PIN on my local Plex account on top of my login/password.
Most likely I suspect giving access to live broadcast tv to other users directly would be a licensing and legal nightmare the plex team doesn’t want to get entangled with.
I’m assuming it has to do with the Aereo case.
