I’m a transfuge from Sage.tv, no complaints so far but I do miss the ability to set recordings based on a keyword.
Use-case: I’m a volleyball fan but there is very little shown on TV and the show name is never the same.

I’m a John Wayne fan. I would like to record any show/movie that John Wayne is in. Recording criteria by actor, director, or keywords in the title and/or description would be awesome.
Great idea! I’ve added it to our list for review.
Good one. +1
This would be a huge feature for Plex DVR. Windows 7 Media Center can do this and it is one of its best features. I highly recommend you look at all of the recording capabilities of WMC for consideration into Plex DVR. These features along with Pause/Record Live TV and your excellent EPG will obviate the need for WMC and we can finally upgrade to Windows 10
Great product. Keep up the good work.
Asked for this a few weeks back, without reply. Glad to hear it will be considered.
want to add my name to the list: I want to dump my TIVO but I have searches for a specific director and actress (mom n dad) and it grabs anything they’ve done. In order to dump TIVO, I was hoping PLEX DVR would do this… Please consider it.
Old thread but would also love keyword recording.
Yeah, likewise.
You wouldn’t necessarily need to actually schedule the recording (that might be difficult since there might be clashes when it finally hits the EPG). You could just provide an alert under the Account icon, like you do with news. Then leave it up to the user to actually schedule the recording.
My use case is that many channels show trailers for their upcoming summer season or winter season, long before the show features in the EPG. Would be great to be able to log an alert for those shows so that I’ll get reminded when they appear in the EPG!
(Old thread but) Good Request !
Program titles are sometimes vague in my country. Keyword based recording seems to be good solution for me.
Keyword recording is one of the reasons I’m a still a Windows Media Center holdout. That and copy protected recording.
This feature was requested about 3 years ago and flagged as a good idea. Is there any chance this will be implemented? It would be really useful for recording upcoming programs that aren’t within the program guide’s window.
