I already have a lot of covers in jpg format tat are actually not found by plex gracenote enabled scanner.
I would like to know if there’s a way to tell plex :
scan the library, search for covers.
if no cover was detected BUT that a cover.jpg or other folder.jpg file exist in the music folder containing the tracks, then use this file.
Any way to achieve that ?
Of course, a proper musicbrainz / discogs integration would be a lot better as all these folders were grabbed from these sources. Any chance to see the new scanner add these sources to grab the covers additionally to last.fm ?
The music library uses local cover.jpg and folder.jpg
All you have to do is activate the ‘Local Media Assets’ agent under Settings - Server - Agent - Plex Premium or Last.fm
It it doesn’t work for you, you should check if you have the last version of PMS installed or if your installation is defective.
The premium music library loads covers from gracenote (which are usually much higher in quality than discogs) and as a fallback from last.fm
As a relative newbie, you should first ask for help in the forums and read the documentation before spamming the feature request forum with requests. There are special rules for this feature request forum.
Didn’t know about the rules OttoKerner. I’ll make sure to read them.
I think it is good to make use of one source with good quality content, but as soon as it is not complete, several fallbacks are actually a good thing. last.fm and gracenote are missing a lot of content, expecially when it comes to limited editions and small labels, obscure music genres.
So the idea would be to fallback in that order Gracenote > last.fm > Local assets > Discogs
This priority order ideally should be configurable by the admin.
