Hi,
My typical Sync situation:
- Use iPad to request a large movie to be Synced, with subtitles enabled.
- Synology server says it will take 3 hours to transcode (excludes estimate of additional file transfer time based on current connection).
- Carry on using iPad and forget about item being synced, assume it will appear in a few hours.
- Pick up iPad next day, open Plex and find movie hasn't appeared since WiFi dropped, which seems to kill Sync.
- Click Sync and movie starts to Sync again. Carry on with other things, close iPad later and it goes to sleep, closing WiFi connection.
- Comes back in a few hours, open Plex, movie hasn't Synced. Click Sync and movie starts to Sync from the beginning again.
Necessary workaround to avoid 2nd fail: a) iPad must be left on with Plex app active, and b ) iPad is on charge so WiFi doesn't sleep.
Improvements: Ensure Plex Sync uses resumable file copy - remind user (once?) that for Sync of large transcoded movies, application must be left open and iPad needs to be powered. I am guessing it is no longer possible due to Apple API to force the app to keep the WiFi open and thus guarantee the Sync first time?
