I would like the search to be able to find content using specific keywords, rather than pulling it from just the titles.

Yeah. i’ve wanted this for ages, and especially now platforms like androidtv, chromecast and ios have universal search (text and voice).
Not sure if this just requires work on queries or deeper work on the database.
Actually, looking at plex it would require more work than just better search queries. The plex db does not store cast information for tv shows for one. More problematic is that thetvdb does not store cast info either, just guest stars.
I would still like to see the search expanded upon, pulling words from the listed sections.

Yes the improved search works well and is much faster. However, it is still lacking the ability to find media based on tags or actors/actresses/directors in my entire Plex library.
To be specific, the search will display results only in the drop-down part; so if I have a library/section with a Spielberg film in it, that will show up. But if I type Spielberg and hit enter I get no results.
Okay, yeah, I noticed that too. When you press Enter, you’re getting the old search page, which is still using the old search engine. That will be coming. See my discussion with a Plex employee about this.

As mentioned already, the main search page still needs to be updated, but if you select Mr Spielberg from the drop-down it will give you all of his movies in the result.

So today I got an email highlighting some of the new updates for this month, specifically an improved search. One of the statements says this:
“Complete: We search genres, actors, directors, playlists, as well as all the obvious media titles. It’s never been easier to jump to all of Ahh-nold’s movies, or see all your Jazz.”
I figured that this improved search would also cover tags, but to my surprise it doesn’t. As I stated in my original post, it would be great if the search could pull info from Tags (Collections, Writers, Country, etc). It would also be great if it covered other areas like year and summary/description.
Tags are more for filters than for search. Most of the things you ask for are available in the Filter tool.
I don’t use the filter tool because I find it cumbersome and doesn’t work well with the libraries I have. The ability to search using tags just seems like common sense at this point.
