Plex Media Server Logs_2025-12-30_15-56-10.zip (4.8 MB)
I am running Plex server on Win11 PC. It has been this way for many years now. A few months ago, my QNAP NAS had a motherboard failure and I have not been able to buy a new one. I had a LACIE BIG DOCK that was lying idle, so I decided to use this instead. The lacie is connected to a Mac Studio (connected via ethernet on the same network) as the primary need was for storage of photos for Lightroom.
The lacie is mapped as a drive on the Win PC and the plex server folders have been mapped to the relevant path for movies, TV shows, Music etc.
Since this time, I have noticed that I have to rescan my media libraries every other day as files appear on 1 scan and then somehow get the trashcan icon on another scan. It is very frustrating as I am unable to play media as the ‘file is missing’, then when I re-scan, they are sometimes playable, but most often I need to ‘empty trash’ first, then reboot and later re-scan the folders. Also not all files get remapped with a single run of the scanner, so I need to repeat this process again to get more files mapped.
The odd thing is that whilst my Win PC is unable to play the files, I am able to use my Iphone / Ipad and play the same files. I also see that other deices like my TV and Apple TV (all connected via ethernet) are also unable to play these files. The wireless devices though seem to be working.
This surely seems to be something that I have set-up wrong and I appreciate any advice.
Thanks, Sanjeeb
