My desktop plex files show all my movies but will not connect to them. How do I fix this as it keeps happening.
Your post is rather vague but seems very unrelated to the thread where you posted it… hence I’ve moved it into its own thread.
Would you mind elaborating what issues you experience and what version of the Plex Media Server / clients you’re using (and on what platforms)?
You know what would be better. If Plex had a support team. Its exactly as I wrote it. But here I go: I have $1000s of dollars of movies registered on Plex Server. Bought a Qnap system to hold them. Had no problem watching them until a few months ago. First, it wouldn’t show up on my TV, nothing. I kept re-downloading the server and it would work. Now it shows up on my TV and on my computer but says that they are not available.
We are trying to help, but you have not provided enough details to reliably troubleshoot it.
So when you go to http://<QNAP IP Address>:32400/web
what does it show?
If it shows movies, can you get info
, and check the file path and verify that the file is still in that location?
Does it show a trash icon on the movie poster?
My media is on my computer but will not come up or play or play on my TV. I have a Qnap that they are backed up on. I believe that I’m missing my Plex media server on my computer.
That error indicates that plex either does not have access to the media file in question, or that the file is no longer where plex thinks it should be. Please post these on your thread, and we can provide additional troubleshooting steps.
Again explain your setup
But it really isn’t. You keep mentioning the files are stored on the computer then you’re saying you bought the QNAP to hold them? If the QNAP is doing nothing but holding a backup of your media it’s irrelevant that you even mentioned it and just making your post even more confusing.
So to start over…do you have a Plex Media Server running on the QNAP or on the Computer.
Are the files you are serving to that Plex Media Server stored on the QNAP or the same computer?
That error indicates that plex either does not have access to the media file in question, or that the file is no longer where plex thinks it should be.
I really don’t understand why this is so difficult when I give SCREEN SHOTS. This is what its saying when I want to play my movies.
We have asked for details, and none have been provided. What is happening here is like you going to the doctor telling them that you are in pain, but giving zero more information on where the pain is, how bad it is or any other useful information and asking for a cure.
The message you are seeing means that
A) Plex is running correctly somewhere.
B) Plex has indexed some videos
C) Plex no longer can access that file
We are asking for:
- Provide information on where your plex server is running
- Where your media stored
- Find a video that does not Play, then go to
get info
on that episode/movie and provide a screenshot of that. - A copy of your server logs
We can tell you what your error message means, but there can be at least a dozen different reasons for that message. We need to do additional troubleshooting to narrow it down.
