Using thetvdb.com naming convention brings up wrong episode description

Hello,
I’m trying my best to follow the Plex naming conventions but am not making much progress. Specifically I’m trying to put an episode of ‘Biography’ called ‘FDR: The War Years’ on my server. Going to https://thetvdb.com/series/biography/seasons/official/1994 shows this episode as number 34. I’ve structured the file as /Biography/‘Season 1994’/‘Biography s1994e34 - FDR: The War Years.mp4’.
Within the Plex server I can go to Biography, then Season 1994, then Episode 34, then play it, and it plays the correct show. But the info about the show appears as a show about George C. Marshall with a picture of a man whom I assume is Marshall.
How can I make Plex find the info for what I believe is a correctly titled show?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Are you using the TVDB episode order for your library?

The default show order is TMDB

You can switch just the show order by clicking the pencil on the show poster
Go to advanced

Thanks for your quick response…

I went to the show ‘Biography’, clicked the button with the 3 dots next to ‘TV Shows’, then selected ‘Manage Library’, then ‘Edit’, then ‘Advanced’. Episode ordering was on ‘The Movie Database’. I changed it to ‘TheTVDB’. (there were only those 2 options, not the 5 options shown in your example.

I saw no change.

Fyi, here are other settings under the ‘advanced’ tab (partial list):
Scanner: Plex TV Series
Agent: Plex TV Series
Use Season Titles - unchecked
Use Original Titles - unchecked
Prefer artwork based on library language - checked
Use local assets - checked
Find extras - checked (fyi, I have a Plex Pass)

Thanks again for your quick response.

You can change the episode ordering on a per-show basis too. Doing this instead of at the Library level will show all 4 options as seen in that screenshot of JaysPlex7’s. Go to “Biography”, click the pencil icon (as if you were to edit the poster image), then click on “Advanced”.

After you do this, refresh the metadata for your show. Hopefully, that fixes it.

Thanks… I went to the specific show as you suggested and it is making progress! Refreshing the metadata changed the description to the appropriate one. Now the only remaining problem for this file is the picture that’s displayed. It is still showing someone I don’t recognize.

Where do you think it’s getting that photograph? (I’ve changed the poster to one of FDR that I found on the net, so this is not important anymore… just curious where the original one came from)

Thanks so much for your help!

There was no picture supplied to either TMDB or TVDB for that episode. What you’re seeing is a random screen grab from inside the video itself

I’m not a history buff but I’m almost positive this not FDR lol
(test file is an episode of Family Guy)

Too funny! Thanks for your help… Your advice worked like a charm…
