Files disapear after updating PLex server version

I have a NAS for my TV and a dedicated hard drive hooked to my windows 10 laptop that duplicates my media so I can easily take it with me. I uploaded a tv show that is correctly labelled to both NAS and local drive.
They both recognized the show and went for the metadata. I then updated to the latest server versions on both NAS and laptop and the files on the laptop are no longer recognized.
I created new folders for each season thinking that it may be the issue ( doing this often fixes things; I don’t know why but it does) but nothing. The exact same files on the NAS are fine…
Any idea???

What scanner/agent do you have configured in the advanced settings of the respective library on those servers?
And… while the naming seems to work for one of the servers… would you mind sharing how you named/organized those files?

I have for both “local media assets” and " personal media". The files are named as the other ones
show name folder - show name + season # folder - show name s01e01.
Again, the show was recognized and analyzed before the last update which happened within minutes of adding the show

Re/ scanner/agent:
can you look at the options of the actual libraries – not your server agent settings!

  • > Manage Library > Edit...Advanced > Scanner
  • > Manage Library > Edit...Advanced > Agent

It might anyway be helpful if you could retry after fixing the naming/organization so it matches the naming schema suggested by Plex

TV Shows
  Show Name
Season XX <- not: Show Name Season XX
      Show Name - sXXeYY.ext

Where XX is the season number, YY the episode number and .ext the file extension
While that might seem a minor change, Plex is known to be picky when it comes to tv-show organization/naming. As the saying goes… it (=different schema) works until it doesn’t.

well, that is very strange because all libraries have a scanner and an agent except for the TV shows libraries on both NAS and local drive which only have the TVDB agent.
reformatting the file names didn’t do anything obviously since they can’t be found. I wonder what happened.

I updated to the latest version this afternoon and now I no longer can see the partition where my files were, so no content. I’m on Ubuntu 20.04. I’ve made sure the ownership of the entire subdir is properly set. I can “ls -l” the partition just fine, but it doesn’t even see the partition. I have even tried going to a symbolic link to the partition, but those don’t even show up in the “Browse for files” option. It doesn’t even show up, like the partition is invisible to plex, but it is completely visible in the shell. Is this some bug in the current version? I’ve rebooted and restarted the plexmediaserver multiple times.

yep, no more scanner in the shows section only (weird) since the update, and the only reason the last show I loaded can be seen on the NAS is that it was uploaded and made part of the library before the last version was installed, unlike the local drive, I think.
Also just added a movie to both servers and the local drive does not recognize it despite having scanners and agents. Same file went in both servers and only the NAS version saw it…
Seems like there is a problem with the new version. Is there a way to go back to the previous version till a fix is found?

haven’t read from you since. Any idea what’s going on?
