When I add the files for “death note” to the plex server they keep renaming themselves to the same file names.
I’ve had this happen to me before but I’ve fixed the problem by changing the files name, but that is not working this time

Go to
- Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under
- Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
- Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
- Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
Afterwards, ‘Refresh Metadata’ for the series.
When I try to do this; there is no save option so it instantly does back to how was previously.

You must not click on the check box.
Use the ‘handle’ (with the 3 horizontal lines) at the left margin of the line to reposition it.
Should I have it checked marked?
This is what I am doing; Im in Plex Movie tab then Im dragging it down to the bottom like this: https://imgur.com/a/a7wxmgi
Then I click on the movie database to do the same: https://imgur.com/a/eTeeUsy
I then go back to Plex Movie to see if it saved but it looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/thIi6pl
So I don’t think its saving unless I’m doing something wrong
You are ‘disabling’ it, by clicking into the white rectangular area (which is called a ‘checkbox’). It will then automatically travel downwards.
That’s OK, as long as you re-enable it afterwards. It will then stay at the bottom as the last of the active items.
Ok I have all the boxes checked marked and moved to the bottom like this
https://imgur.com/a/0lcAaWL (there are 4 pictures)
But if I go back and check to see if its still at the bottom then they are all back to this
Local Media Assets is at the bottom in this screenshot.
All the other lines below it are ‘disabled’ and therefore irrelevant.
The main thing is that ‘Local Media Assets’ is below of ‘Plex Movie’, so ‘Plex Movie’ gets priority.
Its still renaming all my files and changing the thumbnails.
I’m refreshing the metadata: https://imgur.com/a/WsCr2kZ
But after it refreshes it does this: https://imgur.com/a/3tKihmM
Is there a way to disable the function where it automatically renames the files and changes the thumbnails. I have only had this problem with Death Not and One Punch Man. I have al my anime Tv shows set as movies because if I don’t then they files would not appear for me.
Usually that’s because the naming convention you’re using is wrong.
If you have a folder\file naming structure like:
…\TV Shows\Death Note (2006)\Season 1\Death Note - s01e01 - Rebirth.m4v
And you point a TV Show library to the “TV Shows” folder—not directly at the “Death Note (2006)” folder, it should work fine.
