Films have empty titles

For some reason, my Plex server suddenly has many films with empty titles (please see the attached screenshots).

“Refresh Metadata” has no effect. “Fix Match” shows that the agent has the correct title, but it doesn’t get pulled into the item data. I checked the Edit dialog, and the fields are empty. I have not entered any custom values or locked the fields. My library language is set to English. The “Metadata language” and “Use original title” are both set to “Library default”.

This is a new issue as I had previously pulled the data for these films successfully. It’s only affecting ~50 films out of a library of thousands.

I have tried clearing the Plug-in Support caches to reset the agent scanners with no effect. I have tried removing the films and re-adding them to the library with no effect.

I would be grateful if anyone has any ideas or comments.

Are the affected movies in mp4 format?
If so, edit the library, go to the Advanced tab and disable “prefer local metadata”.
Then Refresh Metadata of the affect movies.

Thanks! You were right that it was local metadata causing the issue.

When I removed the “Release Date” and “Track #” from the MP4 metadata (see attached screenshot), Refresh Metadata worked.

I’m not sure if this is a new issue in Plex that a local metadata Release Date of “0” would cause Plex to think that the local metadata title should be used (even if it is non-existent).
