Every time I add new movies into the server, it scans and updates all the information normally as it should, except the movie title never updates. It remains the filename. I’ve tried searching for the answer to this and many posts say to Agents and drag Local Media Assets to the bottom of the list. I’ve done this and it’s seemed to change nothing. It still updates everything but the movie title. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this issue?
Sounds like your files have that name embedded in the title field. Plex doesn’t use filenames.
Ok. So how can I get Plex to update the title correctly?
The steps you took are not the same for the new movie agent. If you’re using it (Plex Movie agent) then you need to edit the library, select Advanced and ensure that “Prefer local metadata” is not selected. You’ll have to refresh the metadata of affected items after changing this.
