Find where to watch something with "Discover" and your "Watchlist"

I agree with you but why not allow managed users but let the default be that Discover is disabled and require that the main user explicitly enables it for managed users? That would protect kids from improper info but allow the rest of us to benefit from the new functionality?

I’m a bit surprised that this issue hasn’t surfaced in your internal beta, it is not such a strange setup. If I compare with Netflix they have this exact use case, one main users and several different user profiles. If they can do it, why can’t Plex?

I love this addition but was just curious. How does it know what I want to watch if it doesn’t know what I watch on the other platforms?

Also I actually like that it shows content from services I haven’t selected but since some don’t, maybe make it an option? Also an option from automatically tracking what’s what I’m watching on external services would be amazing.

Sure discover can be useful… But just like plex on demand and live tv, it’s catered for English speakers. A language selector tochoose which one(s) you prefer would make it useful for everybody.
I speak Spanish, choose my streaming services… And all my suggested titles are in English. And what’s more, most of them are just not available on spanish streaming sites.
As if I try plex free movies and it’s a lottery wether it will be available in Spanish or not. For live channels it’s even worse. Cluttered with channels I won’t understand.
Podcast and webseries also have the same problem. A language selector is a must.

Is there a way to put the Watchlist directly under Continue Watching and directly before the “Recently Added” hubs?

The ideal homepage hub configuration for me would be:

  • Continue Watching
  • Watchlist
  • Recently Added TV
  • Recently Added Movies
  • …everything else

That would be better than only having the Watchlist tab at the top.

I see “No streaming services found for your region”. I’m from Europe. Isn’t this available here?

I can only ‘Add to Watchlist’ on movies that have been added within the past 6 months (seen by sorting ‘By Date Added’. Anything 6 months and less, I get the option, but anything 7 months or more, no option.

Great to see the innovation and for me, it’s one fewer services to consult. I had been using JustWatch which is very good but having it built in to Plex means it’s one less click.

iOS app not remembering services is likely a bug which can be squished in due course.

I’ve been able to access from app.plex.tv/ but not from my local plex instance on IP:port.

Server version: 1.25.9.5721-965587f64
Plex web app seems to be variable versions and I can’t see a way to force update of the app used on local IP server… I guess it might need an update of the server version? or if not, can any of you wise folks tell me how to force an update?

I’d like to echo many other users stating that as deployed, the inability to add the service on a Managed account is a deal breaker. All of my family members (co-located for the moment) have managed accounts (I’ve been a lifetime Plex Pass user for years) and although we live together, we have very different viewing habits so being able to have Discovery added to Managed Accounts is the only way it will work for us. We have one main (admin) account logged in on the TVs and each user selects their account when viewing. Separate logins for each user would be a royal pain and we use PINs for the Admin account for obvious reasons.

We timeshare the main TV but have web apps on a variety of devices.

One other bug I’ve noticed: Moon Knight is available on Disney + in the UK but this is not offered as a service to link to from the search results or recent content available to rent/stream.

I suspect this is about geo locking of content and the services might not be fully reporting what is available in each region - but I’ve been wrong before

Keep up the great work and I’ll keep kicking the tyres.

Looks fair to me, their og decision seems reasonable but having chance to control in administrators hands will be more fair as each can adjust depending on their setup. There is discussion about this happening outside too.

Not great.
Couldn’t add more services after I initially only activated Netflix, then the whole feature was invisible.
Definitely needs a lot more work

Is there a way to opt out and get my other HOME back? Where is the “Continue Watching” or Recently Added etc? I am not for being forced to do new layouts when the recent past one is perfectly fine with me. I actually just got them all how I wanted them for EVERYONE and it was a chore and now it appears they are gone. The only other service I have is Discovery Plus and that appears to be the one that is not available to add to this new setup. I understand why some would want this but why does my Home page have to be altered so much? Why cant it be opt in or out and can I get it back by loading older firmware? Your new tweaks of services always give my server a headache and adds much more WORK for me. Not happy

It doesn’t actually, streaming struggle is users opening different apps to watch but never really choose or waste a lot of time with it. Plex, is basically trying to have single interface to all those search and manual discover of media using sections like new, trending, coming soon etc.

It can be adjusted anytime depending on client Settings > Streaming Services

I agree. My wife thinks I make watching video too complicated. I think it simplifies things to have a dedicated media player (nVidia Shield) for all streaming. She mostly watches Cable TV and Xfinity does a decent job of providing direct access to most streaming services, so when we watch together we stream everything through the Xfinity platform. What it doesn’t do are the kinds of things that the new Discover feature does.
Xfinity also doesn’t stream as well as standalone apps most of the time. HBO+ is particularly bad and so is AppleTV+. Streaming from Plex on nVidia Shield (Google TV OS) provides most of the functionality that Plex is adding with this feature, I think, but I’d rather use this new Plex front-end once it gets out of beta.

“Free To Watch” movies are showing in the “Recommended” hub for movies in my Watchlist. Movies that are in my personal library that I have added to the Watchlist. I have no Streaming Services enabled and no Online Media Sources enabled.

How can I disable the “Free To Watch” movie recommendations that come with the Watchlist feature? Additionally, I don’t feel I should be given “other ways to watch” a movie in my Watchlist if I have it on a server. I DEFINITELY don’t feel I should be given “other ways to watch” said movie when I have disabled all online/streaming services.

Is there a way to view all the movies you’ve watched and rated? I love that you can now mark movies that I don’t own as watched but it looks like I can only find that information my searching. I’d really love to see this become a Trakt replacement, and while seeing where stuff is available is a big step, there’s a couple of small things it’s missing for me to be able to finally step away from another website. (Oh, and kudos to the Plex team, this is so much better than what I was anticipating.)

This is great news and have been anticipating for this to finally become available. Now the feedback:

  • We do not want to see items that need purchased/rent. Only items the come with our subscriptions. This is the #1 reason we don’t use the apple tv menus. Every time we try to use the apple tv aggregated menu inevitably we always pulled a pay title. If this is not a opt out option, we’ll likely stick to bouncing between a few streaming platforms as we currently do. Perhaps a setting to ‘auto show’ outside of our streaming selection base paid and/or free options.
  • Consistency of imbd or rotten tomatoes reviews; bonus setting to pick or show both.
  • For soon to be released titles, would be nice to know where its releasing on title page.
  • update: Lights_Sound mentioned this is already working as intended, same throughout plex. Thank you. “accidentally clicked on star review for a title, could not clear it”

The star review is the same UI as the rest of plex. Just click on the stars and drag left until the rating is removed.

Is there or will there be a way to import watchlists from the other services?

Also, can I now import my watchlists from Trakt since I already have the scribbler set up?

This shouldn’t have changed your home screen at all, other than adding a tab on the left for Discover, and a tab at the top for Watchlist. If your home screen changed a lot, something went seriously wrong.

I have one request: Add ability to filter by streaming service. I don’t maintain continuous subscriptions, but rather move from one to another (or two or three or …) every so often. It would be useful to be able to filter the Watchlist to only show what is available on a specific streaming service (or list).

My sentiments exactly. Until it has the filter by service option, I have to keep using JustWatch.
